Introduction: HISTORY OF TABLE TENNIS

1) Originated in England in the late 19th century as an indoor alternative to lawn tennis.
2)The name "Ping Pong" was trademarked by J. Jacques & Son Ltd.
TABLE DIMENSIONS

1)Table Length: 2.74m.


2)Table Width: 1.525m.
3)Table Height: 0.76m.
4)Net Height: 15.25cm.

BASIC RULES

Scoring: First to 11 points (must win by 2).

Serve: The ball must be tossed at least 16 cm before being struck.

Alternating Service: Changes every 2 points, except at 10-10 (deuce), where it changes every 1
point.

Winning a Game: A player must win 3 out of 5 (or 4 out of 7) games in a match.

Legal Shots: The ball must bounce on the opponent’s side after hitting the table on the server’s
side.

Doubles Rules: Teams alternate shots and service must go diagonally.
