ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
1. Selection of candidates will be carried out for following categories as per qualitative requirement:-

Note: Agniveer candidates can apply for any TWO Categories as per their eligibility. The
candidates seeking two options will have to fill up forms of the two categories separately and
appear for two Common Entrance Examinations, pertaining to their choice of Categories. They will
however be required to undergo only one/two Rect Rally(As per discretion of the Army) and
Medical Test for the Category meriting higher Physical Fitness Test/ Medical standards. Priority of
Categories will be filled up by the candidates during application stage itself. Final option will be
asked from candidates post completion of recruitment rally.
2. Date of Birth. Candidates born between 01 Oct 2004 to 01 April 2008 (both days inclusive) are
eligible to apply.

5. Special Physical Standards. Special physical standards applicable for ST/Adivasi Candidates
of all categories as under, for which they must bring Caste certificate duly signed/countersigned by
only the District Collector/ District Magistrate:-
(a) Minimum Height – 162 Cms, Minimum Weight - 48 Kgs (Refer JIA website for details) and
Minimum Chest - 77 Cms (+5 cm expansion).
(b) A further relaxation of 1 Cm in chest (76 Cms) and 2 Kgs in weight (46 Kgs) is applicable to
ST/Adivasi Candidates applying for Agniveer Tradesmen 10th Pass and 8th Pass category.
6. Incentives for Various Categories. Bonus marks will be awarded to eligible candidates:-
(i) In case a candidate is found to have made fake claims at any stage or furnished
fake certificates to unfairly secure Bonus Marks or unfairly seek relaxation in Physical
Measurement Standards, their candidature is liable to be CANCELLED at any stage of
recruitment.
(ii) The above marks are fixed depending upon the eligibility of a candidate and has no
relation to his performance in Common Entrance Examination (CEE).
(iii) Maximum bonus marks that can be given is 25 Marks even if a candidate qualifies for
more than one type of bonus marks except Agniveer (Technical).
(iv) Maximum bonus marks that can be given to Agniveer (Technical) is 50 Marks if he is
qualified in ITI/ Diploma {Serial 6 (e) refers}.
(vi) All certificates and marksheets including the highest qualification as filled up in the
application form online are to be carried by all above categories at the rally site.
(vii) Sports Certificates within TWO YEARS from the first day of Common Entrance
Examination will only be valid.
(viii) In case any candidate achieves a higher class qualification cert for bonus marks
(i.e. NCC certificate, sports& ITI/Diploma/IT Certificate) between filling of online
application & attending rally, then such candidate will be awarded higher bonus marks
on presenting original document at rally site during rally.

7. AGNIVEER will be enrolled in the Indian Army under Indian Army Act 1950 for a period of four
years. AGNIVEER would form a distinct rank in the Indian Army, different from any other existing ranks.
Indian Army is not obliged to retain AGNIVEER beyond the engagement period of four years.
10. Training. On being enrolled, AGNIVEER will be imparted military training based on requirement
of Indian Army.
11. Leave. Grant of leave will be subject to exigencies of Indian Army. The following leave may be
applicable for Agniveer during their engagement period:-
12. Medical and CSD Facilities. For the duration of their engagement period in Indian Army,
AGNIVEER will be entitled for medical facility at Service Hospitals as well as CSD provisions.
13. Pay, Allowances and Allied Benefits. AGNIVEER enrolled under this scheme will be paid an
AGNIVEER package with a fixed yearly increment. In addition, Risk and Hardship Allowances
(as applicable in Indian Army), Dress and Travel Allowances will be paid.
14. Terminal Benefits: Seva Nidhi Package. AGNIVEER will be given onetime ‘Seva Nidhi’
package comprising their monthly contribution with matching contribution by the Government on
completion of their engagement period, as indicated below:-
15. Insurance, Death and Disability Compensation. AGNIVEER will be provided non-contributory
life insurance cover of Rs 48 lakhs for the duration of their engagement period as AGNIVEER in the Indian
Army. AGNIVEER will not be governed by the provisions contained in the Pension Regulations/Rules for
the Indian Army.
16. Agniveer Skill Certificate. At the end of engagement period, a detailed Skill-Set Certificate will
be provided to the AGNIVEER highlighting the skills and level of competency acquired by the personnel
during their engagement period.
17. Personnel enrolled under this scheme will not be eligible for Ex-Servicemen Status.
18. Only unmarried candidates will be eligible for enrolment as Agniveers and they must undertake not
to marry during the defined engagement period of four years. Agniveers who marry during the said period
would be released from service. Further, only unmarried Agniveers will be eligible for re-enrolment in
regular cadre as Sepoy/equivalent on selection as currently in vogue.
SEQUENCE OF RECRUITMENT
(a) All candidates to log in to www.joinindianarmy.nic.in, check their eligibility status and create
their profile. Candidates should fill in their Highest Educational Qualification during Registration
and Education Qualification mandated as per category applied for during Application stage.
(b) Online Registration (submission of application) will commence from 12 March 2025 to
10 April 2025 (Dates are subject to change and candidates are advised to follow the same on
www.joinindianarmy.nic.inWeb Portal).
(c) Examination Fee. Examination fee of Rs 250/- per Category of application is to be paid by
the candidate for the online examination. The candidate on successfully filling the application will
be directed to HDFC portal through a link on the website. At the HDFC portal, payment of Rs 250/-
plus Bank charges is to be made as applicable. The payment can be made through any of these
payment options available:-
(i) Payment Gateway Facility through Maestro, Master Card, VISA, Rupay Cards both
Credit & Debit of all major Banks.
(ii) Internet banking of HDFC and other Banks.
(iii) UPI
(e) Candidates are required to have an active email & mobile number which will be used for
further communication.
(f) Candidates must indicate five choices of the exam centre. All possible effort would be
made to allot exam centre based on choice made by the candidate. Exam centre can be allotted
outside of the choice made by the candidate due to administrative restrictions.
(g) Request for change of exam centre or date of selection test will not be entertained.
(l) Candidates are advised to upload only recent photograph on JIA website. In case the photo
does not match the face of candidate, the candidate will not be permitted to appear for any test.
(m) Details about required educational criteria and the physical/medical standards are available
on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in (JIA) under Candidate login. It can be accessed without signing in.
20. Recruitment Process. Recruitment process will be conducted in two phases. Phase I will be
Online Common Entrance Exam at Computer Based Test Centres allotted to the candidate and Phase 2
will be Recruitment Rally by Army Recruiting Offices at Rally Venue (Intimation and details of Computer
Based Test/ Rally venue will be sent to all candidates on their e-mail ID).
PHASE – I
(j) Typing Test for Agniveer Clerk /Store Keeper Technical. Typing test for candidates
appearing for Agniveer Clerk /Store Keeper Technical will be carried out during the online
Common Entrance Exam wherein 30 words per min (wpm) in English during the test is
desirable. Only those candidates who qualify the typing test will be eligible for call up for
phase-II of recruitment process.
(k) Marks scored by the candidates in Online Common Entrance Exam will be Normalised to
take into account variation in difficulty levels of the question paper across different sessions.
(l) In case any candidate is found using unfair means, the candidate will not be allowed to
complete the test and candidature will be cancelled.
PHASE – II
22. Proportionate to the vacancies, available candidates would be shortlisted by applying a cut off in
Online Common Entrance exam result. The Roll No of the candidates who are shortlisted will be
published on Join Indian Army website. These candidates will receive a second Admit Card for balance of
recruitment process as per Rally Schedule of Army Recruiting Offices. The Admit Card for Phase II of
recruitment process can also be downloaded online under candidate’s login (profile) on
https://joinindianarmy.nic.in (JIA Web Portal). The sequence of Phase II of Recruitment is as per
www.joinindianarmy.nic.in/recruitment). Shortlisted candidates have to report on the stipulated date and
time for Phase II at the designated Recruitment Rally venue with following document /certificate in original
alongwith two attested photocopies with them:-

Leaving Certificate with date of birth and name of parents countersigned by
BEO/ DEO.
(iii) Candidates who have appeared in class 10th and class 12th Board
Education Exam and awaiting declaration of results are also eligible to apply

Certificates provided they fulfill all other requisite Qualifications. Such candidates,
however, shall only be selected when they produce the original
marksheet during the Phase II of recruitment process.
(iii) List of Education Board recognized by State Governments/ UT
administrations attached as Appendix ‘A’ will only be accepted.
(iv) 8th Class pass mark sheet and Transfer Certificate issued by school (both
certificates) should be countersigned by District Inspector of School/ District
Education Officer/Block Education Officer.
Domicile/ Domicile Certificate generated online through government website and
Nativity/ digitally signed by Circle Officer and countersigned by SDO/ Tehsildar/ District
(d) Permanent Magistrate which can be verified from government website will only be
Residence acceptable (No Tatkal Domicile certificate or manually drafted/generated
Certificate certificate will be acceptable).

Candidates wishing to avail the privilege as Son of Servicemen/
Ex Servicemen/ Widow/ War Widow in terms of Bonus Marks as per 6 (a)
above are required to produce the following documents:-
(i) Relationship certificate issued from respective Record Office only duly
signed by Record Officer with Personal Number, Rank, Name and particulars
of the Record Officer issuing the Relationship Certificate with office
seal/stamp duly endorsed. Relationship certificate should bear the water
marks of the concerned Records.

(k) (ii) A declaration on Affidavit on Ten Rupees Non-Judicial Stamp paper to be

Magistrate will also be submitted by the candidate at rally site. Format of
affidavit is attached as per Appendix ‘C’.
(iii) Original Discharge Book of Ex-Servicemen also to be produced. Name
and date of birth of the candidate must have been recorded in it.
(iv) Original documents / photocopies duly attested will be accepted only
during the Rally. Certificates to claim Bonus Marks will not be accepted
after the termination of the Rally.
NCC A/B/C Certificate and Republic Day Parade certificate should have
photograph of the candidate duly attested by issuing authority. NCC A/B/C
NCC pass certificates in original will only be accepted. Original certificates /

Certificate photocopies duly attested pertaining to Bonus marks will be accepted only
during the Rally. Certificates will not be accepted after the termination of
the Rally.
(i) Candidates will submit original certificates and attested photocopies to
avail relaxation in physical standards and Bonus Marks as applicable to
outstanding sportsmen mentioned at Para 4 and 6 (b) above.

(m) (ii) List of Sports. List of Sports for enrolment is attached as Appendix ‘D’.

(iii) Original certificates and attested photocopies for claiming Bonus marks
will be accepted only during the Rally. Certificates to claim Bonus Marks
will not be accepted after the termination of the Rally.

PAN Card & PAN Card & AADHAR Card are mandatory documents for final enrolment for
(p) AADHAR purpose of Pay & Allowances and other social benefits scheme and will be
Card submitted by all candidates.
(i) Candidates belonging to Tribal communities/ Tribal areas, are permitted to
have permanent body tattoos on any part of the body, as per existing customs
and traditions of the said tribe to which a candidate belongs. Such candidates
will only be permitted on producing the following two certificates: -
(aa) Self-certification certificate to be signed by the candidates. The form
is attached as Appendix ‘F-I’.
(ab) Certificate belonging to Tribal community & permissibility of
(q) Tattoo permanent Body Tattoo(s) to be signed by DC/DM or SDM of the District/
Tehsil where the tribe of the candidate is presently settled, as per
Appendix ‘F-II’.(Name and designation of the concerned official must be
clearly mentioned).
(ii) Permanent body tattoos of religious sentiments are permitted only on
inner face of forearms i.e from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reverse
side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other
part of the body are not acceptable and such candidates will be barred from
selection.
Note: - Candidates are strongly advised to carry all documents at rally site on the day of their
physical test & documentation check. No certificate will be accepted after the rally and only those
produced on the nominated day will be factored during recruitment process.
Recruitment Rally
23. Candidates will be tested as stated below during the Phase II:-
(b) Physical Measurement Test (At Rally Site). Physical measurement will be carried out
as per the laid down Para 3 above on calibrated instruments fielded by the conducting authority.
Relaxation for physical measurement will be accepted based on authorized supporting documents.
(c) Adaptability Test. All candidates who qualify in the Physical Fitness Test (PFT) &
Physical Measurement Test (PMT) will have to undertake Adaptability Test as per policy in vogue.
The Adaptability Test is for selection of candidates who can adapt to the environment of the Indian
Army and are able to adapt to challenges of military life. Those candidates who qualify in the
Adaptability Test will be eligible for Medical examination and consideration in further recruitment
process. Those candidates who do not qualify the Adaptability Test will not be allowed further
participation in the recruitment process. Adaptability Test will be conducted on a Tablet / Mobile
phone. It will consist of question answers for which there is no fixed syllabus. Candidates must
ensure that data package of atleast 2 GB is available on their phones brought in by them during
the rally.
(i) Medical examination of candidates who qualify in Physical Fitness Test, Physical
Measurement Test and Adaptability Test will be conducted by Army Medical Team at the
Rally site as per Army Medical standards and policy in vogue on the subject issue.
(ii) Candidates declared unfit at the rally site will be given an opportunity for an Appeal
Medical Examination i.e. a review by a Specialist at the Military Hospital (MH)/ Base
Hospital (BH)/ Command Hospital (CH). Candidates will have to report to the designated
Military Hospital (MH)/ Base Hospital (BH)/ Command Hospital (CH on a date fixed by the
Medical Officer after conduct of Medical examination at the rally site. The location of MH/
BH/CH will be informed to the candidate through e-Mail/ SMS by the ARO / Medical Officer.
(iii) The recruitment medical officer and the specialist doctors of Armed Forces are the
final authorities on declaring a candidate fit or unfit during initial medical examination,
Review medical examination and medical examination prior to enrolment. The candidates
shall be governed by Army standards which may be at variance from civil standards. There
is no provision for representation or appeal or re-review after Review Medical examination.
(iv) Passing in medical examination is not a guarantee for employment in Indian Army.
(v) Candidates are advised in their own interest to undergo medical exam before
coming for selection especially with respect to flat foot, poor vision, deformities and
physical measurements. All are advised to ensure that their ears are free of wax by
getting it cleaned by a doctor prior to the rally.
(vi) If there is a lapse 270 days or more between screening medical at the rally and
despatch, medical will be done again and candidates rendered unfit in this review will not
be recruited.
(vii) Use of contact lenses is not permitted.
Note: - Candidates discharged from the Indian Armed Forces for any reason are not eligible to
appear in the selection test.
(a) Any candidate who has not received Admit Card for Phase-II, 05 days prior to the
Rally, may approach Army Recruiting Office, Katihar for further clarification.
(b) Candidates are required to report at the Rally Site by the scheduled time and on the
scheduled date as mentioned in the Admit Card issued to them. Candidates reporting after
scheduled time/day without appropriate justification will not be permitted to participate in the Rally.
Candidate should be clean shaven (Except Sikh Candidates).

(c) Personal e-mail ID and Mobile Number is a MUST. All important messages will be sent to
this e-mail ID/ Mobile Number like message of being shortlisted/ call letter/joining instructions/
result etc. Sharing of their e-mail ID and Mobile Number is not permitted. Candidates must
remember their User Name and Password for future use. (ARO will not be held responsible for not
getting required information if e-mail / Mobile Number of candidates given is wrong/ changed).
(d) Candidate must carry their AADHAR Card as proof of identity which could be authenticated
biometrically at the Rally Site. Candidates to ensure AADHAR details are matching with the details
mentioned in the documents and the Online Application. Any change in date of birth by candidate
in AADHAR must be supported by Government authorized documents. Aadhar updation details will
be sought from candidates during the Phase II at the Rally Site to validate change in date of birth,
name, father’s name, mother’s name and domicile details w.r.t. the candidate. Candidates to
ensure that mobile phones brought in by them will enable extraction of Aadhar Updation Data at
the Rally Site.
(e) Candidate’s Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name and Date of Birth (DOB) must be enter
exactly as per Matriculation/10th Class Board Certificate.
(f) Candidate must enter contact details and permanent home address exactly as per
Domicile/Nativity/Permanent Residential Certificate issued by Sub Divisional Magistrate/District
Magistrate.
(g) Those not in possession of required documents will not be permitted to participate in the
recruitment process and will be liable for rejection.
(h) Touts. Recruitment into the Army is fair and transparent. Candidates are advised not to
pay bribe to anyone for recruitment as it is based purely on merit. Selection process during
recruitment at all stages is automated. Therefore, candidates are advised to be beware of touts as
they cannot help them at any stage. In the past, a number of candidates have been found to
fall prey to touts, submitting fake documents and impersonation; and in the bargain have
lost their candidature. Modus operandi and devious means used by the touts are
as under: -
(i) Issue of fake Physical Fitness Test (PFT) Slips/impersonation during various
stages of rally. Conduct fake recruitment rallies.
(ii) Snatching/taking away original certificates from candidates who have been
declared fit at initial stage and thereafter harassing them.
(iii) Taking away ADMIT CARD from the candidates under plea that they will follow
up their results.
(v) Once a candidate gets through on his own efforts, touts demand money in
return of the original certificates.
(j) Giving/ taking bribe, handing over of original certificates to touts, production of bogus/fake
certificates and indulging in unfair means is a criminal offence and liable for punishment under law.
Such candidates will be handed over to Civil Police and their candidature will be cancelled.
(k) A Grievance Cell will be established at the Rally Site to note and redress any grievances.
(a) Candidates will be permitted entry into the rally site only on production of
Admit Card in duplicate generated online through the official website www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
Anyone found with fake Admit Card will be handed over to Civil Police.
(b) Candidates are advised to check their age & education criteria before participating in the
rally. Candidates found under age/overage and not meeting education criteria will be disqualified.
(c) Certificates with overwriting and tampering of seals or erasing/alteration of any type in their
certificates / documents will not be accepted.
(d) All documents submitted by the candidates are verified by government agencies
before enrolment into Army. Strong legal action will be taken against individuals submitting
fake documents. Even after recruitment, the service will be terminated if candidates are
found to have produced fake documents or wrong information at the time of
recruitment, despite the number of years of service individual may have rendered.
(e) No compensation for Death/Injury/loss etc during the rally and no travelling allowance/
dearness allowance for journey is admissible. Candidates will participate in the rally at their own
risk and expense. Participation of candidates is totally and entirely voluntary. The signing of
Indemnity Bond is a mandatory requirement. Those who are below 18 yrs of age will have
the Indemnity Bond signed by their Father/Guardian. Format of Indemnity Bond is attached at
Appendix ‘G’.
(f) Use of Performance Enhancing Drugs / Contraband Drugs. Use of any kind of
performance enhancing drugs or contraband drug is strictly banned. Any candidate found

(g) Selection is provisional till the candidates report to the allotted Regimental /Corps Training
Centre for training and their enrolment form is filled.
(h) At the rally site, all candidate should report duly shaved (beard, chest hair, axillary hair,
pubic hair and with crew hair cut (except Sikh Candidates), for identification at various stages of
rally process failing which candidate can be barred from participation in recruitment rally.
(j) Candidates may have to present themselves at rally site for two to three times. Candidates
should make arrangements for stay under their own arrangements.
(l) Footwear. 1.6 Km run may take place on Road/Hard surface due to weather condition. All
candidates are advised to use suitable running foot wear (Shoes) for 1.6 Kms run and practice
accordingly for the rally.
(m) Smartphone/ Tablet. Candidates to carry Smartphone/ Tablet for Adaptability Test only.
Smartphone/ Tablet should be adequately charged and should have at least 2GB data.
(n) Administration. Candidates are advised to bring sufficient eatables and drinking water
with them since recruitment is a time consuming process.

(o) Mobile Free Zone. The Rally Site for the Physical Rally and the Rally Med Site for
Medical Exam is Mobile free Zone. All Candidates WILL deposit their mobile phones and all
means of communicating information such as smart watches/ electronic gadgets of any kind to the
conducting authorities at the entry gate or at the place nominated by the conducting authorities.
Frisking will be done at the entry gate of candidates/ belongings and random check of the personal
belongings during the Rally process to ensure that candidates do not communicate information of
Rally/ Med Progress. Candidates not adhering to these instructions will be investigated in detail.
All information regarding selection / rejection / medical etc will be given only on official channels
i.e. on website by Army Recruiting Office. Do not trust unauthorized sources for such information
