PART B. READ THE PASSAGE AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS:
English is a language spoken by millions of people all over the world, but it is spoken differently in
each country. Two well-known types of English are Australian English and Canadian English. They are
very similar to British English and American English, but with some special differences.
For example, in Australian English, people often make words shorter. They say "arvo" instead of
"afternoon" and "brekkie" instead of "breakfast." Canadian English is more like American English in
the way people speak and the words they use. But one difference is how they spell words like "colour"
and "favour." Canadians spell these words with "ou," like in British English, but Americans use just
"o." The grammar is also a little different. Canadians sometimes use the British form of words like
"learnt" instead of the American "learned." Australians often speak in a more relaxed way, leaving out
some words when they speak casually. Even though there are differences, Australian and Canadian
English are still easy to understand for people who speak other types of English.
Questions:
1. What are two examples of shortened words used in Australian English?
….………………………………………………………………………………………………
2. How does Canadian English differ from American English in spelling?
….………………………………………………………………………………………………
3. In what way is the grammar of Canadian English sometimes similar to British English?

4. Are Australian and Canadian English generally easy to understand for speakers of other English
dialects?

WRITING:
Write a passage about a natural wonder of the world/ a beautiful landscape
Son Doong is a very big cave in Vietnam. It's hidden in a national park. Inside, there are tall rocks,
underground rivers, and even a jungle! People can go hiking and camping inside the cave. It's very
special. To keep it safe, only a few people can visit each year. We must be careful not to leave trash.
This helps protect the cave's natural beauty for everyone.
Write a passage about the most challenging thing/ your difficulties you face when learning
English and how to improve it
When learning English, I find learning grammatical points the most challenging! For me, the tenses are
most difficult. Past, present, future – so many rules! I mix them up. Sometimes, I don't know when to
use "was" or "were." Also, prepositions like "in," "on," and "at" confuse me. I forget which one to use.
To get better, I try to practice every day. I read simple English books and watch cartoons. I also use
apps to learn grammar rules. When I make mistakes, I write them down. Then, I ask my teacher for
help. Practice and asking questions are helping me improve.
