BRIEF HISTORY
Nasarawa was created out of Plateau State on 1st of October 1996. The state is bounded in the north by Kaduna
State, in the west by the Federal Capital Territory, in the South by Kogi and Benue states and in the East by Taraba
and Plateau states.
It has thirteen (13) Local Government Areas namely Akwanga, Awe, Doma, Karu, Keana, Keffi, Kokona, Lafia,
Nasarawa, Nasarawa Eggon, Obi, Toto and Wamba.

BRIEF HISTORY
Niger State is located on latitude 3.20’ east and longitude 8 and 11.3’ north, with Minna as its capital.
It has a land area of 76,363 square kilometers, with population of 4,082,558. Nupe and Gbagyi are its major tribes,
while Hausa, Kambari, Koro, Kamuku, Pangu etc constitutes its minority tribes.
The State has 25 Local Government Areas, two hundred and seventy four (274) Electoral wards (Registration
Areas) and three thousand, one hundred and eighty seven (3,187) polling units.
