please how do i fix my ssl certificate in my cpanel

31 Mar 2025, 6:02 AM

To fix your SSL certificate in cPanel, you can follow these steps to ensure it is
correctly installed and configured:

Log into your cPanel account and navigate to the "SSL/TLS" section under the
Security category. Click on "Manage SSL Sites" under the "Install and Manage SSL
for your website (HTTPS)" menu.

In the "Manage SSL Sites" section, locate the domain for which you want to fix the
SSL certificate. If the certificate is not installed correctly, you may need to
reinstall it. To do this, copy the certificate code you received from the
Certificate Authority, including the headers and footers (-----BEGIN
CERTIFICATE----- and -----END CERTIFICATE-----), and paste it into the
"Certificate: (CRT)" field. This code can be found in the .crt file sent to you via
email or downloaded from your account.

Click on the "Autofill by Certificate" button to automatically fetch the domain

name and private key. If the system fails to fetch the private key, you can
manually enter it by locating it in the "Private Keys (KEY)" section of the
SSL/TLS. Ensure you include the headers and footers for the private key as well. If
the private key is missing, generate a new CSR code along with a new private key
and reissue your SSL certificate.

If the "Certificate Authority Bundle (CABUNDLE)" is not filled in automatically,

copy and paste the chain of intermediate certificates into the corresponding box.
This step is crucial to ensure the certificate chain is complete and trusted by
browsers.

Once all fields are correctly filled, click on "Install Certificate." After
installation, your site should be accessible via https://. You can verify the
installation using an SSL checker tool to ensure there are no errors.

If you encounter issues with the CA Bundle not updating after reinstalling the
certificate, you may need to update the CA chain via SSH if you have root access.
This involves modifying the configuration file with the correct CA bundle and
restarting Apache. If you need further assistance with this process, please let me
know, and I can guide you through the steps.

please it seems like my ssl certificate expired

how did this happened

31 Mar 2025, 8:13 AM

Could you clarify if you are looking for assistance with renewing your SSL
certificate or if you are inquiring about why it expired?
31 Mar 2025, 8:13 AM

does the ssl certificate expire when my stella and cpanel are still valid

yes why did it expired please?

31 Mar 2025, 8:14 AM

SSL certificates have their own validity period, which is independent of your
hosting (cPanel) or domain registration. Even if your hosting and domain are still
active, the SSL certificate can expire if it is not renewed before its expiration
date.

To assist you better, could you please provide the domain name associated with the
expired SSL certificate? This will help us understand the situation more clearly.

Thank you for your patience. Yes, I can see that the certificate for the domain
expired on 3/14/2025, and it was a free cPanel PositiveSSL, which was provided
according to the offer:
https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx/9927/2218/1year-free-
cpanel-positivessl-certificate-offer/

Also, please remember that the SSL certificate is different from the domain and
hosting since they are three different services.

The certificate that was issued for this domain was only valid for one year, and it
expired once its validity ended.

So, it is necessary to purchase a new certificate for the domain name to make it
secure to use.

As your domain was using a PositiveSSL certificate, here is the link to purchase
it: https://www.namecheap.com/security/ssl-certificates/comodo/positivessl/

Also, you can find all types of SSL certificates using this link:
https://www.namecheap.com/security/ssl-certificates.aspx

You can complete the installation for every PositiveSSL and EssentialSSL
certificate on your shared hosting via the Namecheap SSL plugin. More about it
here: https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx/9387/2218/how-
do-i-install-an-ssl-using-your-cpanel-plugin

All other certificates can be enabled manually by following this guide:

https://www.namecheap.com/support/knowledgebase/article.aspx/10095/67/how-to-
enable-ssl-after-purchase/

Once the certificate is installed, you can check if it was installed properly using
this online tool: https://decoder.link/sslchecker
