7 STANDOUT TRENDS FROM PARIS FASHION WEEK FALL 2025
All things outerwear took center stage via contemporary capes, belted leather trenches and statement fur scarves.

Paris Fashion Week had us on the edge of our seats (screens?) this season: Music's
leading ladies Doechii and Chappell Roan emerged as front-row MVPs, while Parisian
designers closed out the Fall 2025 fashion month via buzzy collections complete with
impeccable tailoring, Elizabethan-inspired ruffs and lots of fur.
The usual suspects of fall collections (outerwear, oversized sweaters and earth-tone
color palettes) prevailed, with designers particularly emphasizing sophisticated leather
trench coats, modern capes and fur scarves. Many of the fashion capital's designers also
traveled back in time for their references: Labels like McQueen, Dior, Patou and Chanel
referenced the frilly, elaborate collars of early 17th-century aristocrats, while Acne
Studios, Ottolinger and Hodakova visited the not-so distant early 2000s to breathe new
life into the skinny-fit pants trend.

BELT STACKING
Coco Chanel famously said to take one thing off before you leave the house, but this
season, Parisian designers disregarded her "less is more" philosophy and embraced
stacks of multiple belts. Schiaparelli led the charge with overlapping statement buckles,
Issey Miyake accessorized with dual thin belts and Isabel Marant channeled its
signature cool-girl attitude into studded black bands.

CONTEMPORARY CAPES
The latest outerwear trend sweeping Paris elevates a superhero staple. Capes took
center stage at Christian Wijnants and Ruohan, both of whom embraced a
contemporary high-neck draped silhouette with the cold-weather cape cascading behind
the model. Meanwhile, Giambattista Valli and Zimmermann opted for delicate,
billowing capes fastened with a bow. Even well-documented cape hater Edna Mode
would be impressed with these styles.

RUFFLE COLLARS
From Elizabethan-era ruffs to pirate-esque puffy shirts (yes, that's a "Seinfeld"
reference), Parisian designers turned to fashion history for their Fall 2025 necklines.
McQueen presented exaggerated ruffs fit for a high-fashion vampire, Dior unveiled a
particularly frill-forward collection and Patou emphasized high-neck ruffles paired with
statement chain necklaces.

BELTED LEATHER TRENCHES
"Trench coats for fall" isn't exactly groundbreaking, but Parisian designers took the
time-honored staple to the next level with an emphasis on belted silhouettes in leather.
The cinched style showed up at Tom Ford, Gabriela Hearst, Balmain, Alaïa, Hermes and
many more, all exuding a sense of chic sophistication. All that's missing are some "The
Matrix"-approved little black sunglasses.

SKINNY PANTS RETURN
I can't run from the resurgence of skinny jeans any longer. Love them or hate them,
skinny-fit pants and leggings have popped up across the Fall 2025 runways and were
especially ubiquitous in Paris. Hodakova, Acne Studios and Ottolinger cosigned the
controversial style's return through low-waisted pants, skin-tight slacks and fitted
ripped jeans, respectively.

FOREST GREEN
Every shade of red is a favorite among designers of all cities, but forest green — an
earthy, grounding hue — stepped into the spotlight in Paris this season via Victoria
Beckham, Lacoste, Elie Saab and Zimmermann.

FUR SCARVES AND COLLARS
Hefty fur jackets filled Fall 2025 collections across New York, London and Milan, but
the accompanying fuzzy accessories were just as prominent in Paris. Chloé accentuated
its boho-chic aesthetic with fur tail scarves, and Nina Ricci sent vibrant furry shawls in
deep blue, burnt orange and a yellowish green down the runway. Some designers leaned
into fur-adorned collars in lieu of toasty scarves, as seen in collections from Rabanne,
Schiaparelli, Sacai and Valentino.
