EX-1.1 NSA Rohit

The document outlines a practical experiment for students in the MCA program to design and configure a basic network using Cisco Packet Tracer. It includes steps for adding devices, assigning IP addresses, configuring default gateways, and testing network connectivity. The learning outcomes emphasize understanding network communication and the roles of routers and switches.

Student Name: Rohit Kumar Gupta UID: 23MCA20401

Branch: MCA Section/Group: 7 'B'

Semester: 4th Date of Performance:14-02-2025

Subject Name: Network System Administration

Subject Code: 23CAH-753

EXPERIMENT- 01

1. Aim/Overview of the practical: To design and configure a basic network

using Cisco Packet Tracer, consisting of a router, switches, and PCs, and to
establish communication between devices by assigning IP addresses and
configuring routing.

2. Apparatus:
Software requirements
• Cisco Packet Tracer

3. Steps to Create:

Step 1: Open Cisco Packet Tracer

• Launch Cisco Packet Tracer on your computer.

Step 2: Add Devices

1. Router:
• Go to "Network Devices" > "Routers".
• Select "2911 Router" and place it in the workspace.

1
2. Switches:
• Go to "Network Devices" > "Switches".
• Select "2960-24TT" and add two switches to the workspace.

2
3. PCs (End Devices):
• Go to "End Devices" > "PC-PT".
• Add six PCs (three on each switch).

Assign IP address to each PC’s

3
After that assign the IP address to the router's GigabitEthernet0/0 interface.

After that assign the IP address to the router's GigabitEthernet0/0 interface.

4
Now that you're assigning IP addresses and default gateways to all PCs
connected to both switches, follow these steps for each PC:
For Each PC:
1. Click on a PC (e.g., PC0).
2. Go to the Desktop tab.
3. Click IP Configuration.
4. Assign the gateway based on the network:

• Default Gateway:11.11.1.4

For PCs Connected to Switch1:

• Default Gateway:192.168.1.4

5
Next Steps: Verify Network Connectivity

After assigning IP addresses and default gateways, test connectivity using the ping
command.

Test PC-to-PC Communication

1. Open Command Prompt on PC0.

To check the simulation for message sending between PCs in Cisco Packet
Tracer, follow these steps:

Switch to Simulation Mode

1. Look at the bottom-right corner of Packet Tracer.
2. Click on Simulation Mode (next to Real-Time Mode).
3. A new event list panel will appear.

Send a Message Between PCs:

• Click on the envelope icon (Add Simple PDU).
• Click on the source PC (e.g., PC0).
• Click on the destination PC (e.g., PC3).
• The packet will now be created and processed.

4. Learning outcomes (What I have learnt):

• Learned how to assign IP addresses and subnet masks to PCs, switches,

and routers.
• Configured default gateways to ensure proper communication between
devices.
• Understood the role of routers and switches in network communication.
• Simulated message transmission (ICMP/Ping) between different PCs.
