Rationale
This assignment has been designed to:
1. Expose the students to the techniques in building literature related work in a specific topic.
2. Evaluate and analyze some of the theories learnt, when making comparisons to actual
situations.
3. Present the findings in a business report, demonstrating strong organizational and verbal
communication skills.

Assessment Criteria
Please refer to the assignment marking guide below.

Task
This is a group assignment. Each group should have 3 to 5 members. Individual submission
will be PENALIZED.
Students should present ample evidence and thoroughly cover the topics. They must write a
clear, logical, and well-organized report.

Assignment Question
Create a project plan for the introduction or improvement of a data analytics program to an
organization. Evaluate the various pros and cons of their current business process. The plan
should include the use of business analytics as business processes incorporated into enterprise
architecture and strategic moves as well as the role of big data in decision making.
Preparation and Layout
1. Conduct extensive research using academic journals, industry reports, and reputable online
sources to gather information on the assigned topics.
2. Present the finding in a visually appealing and engaging manner using appropriate visuals
(e.g., charts, graphs, diagrams) if any, to further elaborate and support the findings.
3. The formal report should be typed-written using Times New Roman, font size 12 with 1.5
spacing and double spacing between paragraphs. Please include appropriate headings, sub-
headings, page, table, and figure numbering, failing which will be penalized.
4. All sources used must be properly cited and referenced using a consistent citation style.
Non-referencing to the source will be penalized.
5. Students must complete the Reflective Log to prove their collaborative work within the
group.

Report Format and Content


1. Title page – Please include the following: Subject Code, Assignment Title, Group Name,
Student Names, Student ID Numbers and Title of the report.
2. Background study – Provide a summary of an organization selected. Briefly describe
current business environment and identify the system or application are related to any used
of analytics.
3. Analysis of the issues – In the current business environment, do a background study of the
current process or systems used. For example, SCM, CRM, HRM, etc. Evaluate the pros
and cons of potential issues highlighted based on the selected process or systems. The issue
highlighted must be related to analytic topics.
4. Implementation of project plan – Formulate and propose a strategy to rectify or improve
based on the highlighted issue by using any of the analytics techniques. For example, data
mining process, life cycle, cost–benefit analysis, impact analysis, alternatives for enterprise
and technology architecture, alternative organizational approaches, analytics as business
processes incorporated into the enterprise architecture, etc. A proper plan should be
developed.
5. Justification of proposed strategy – Consider the benefits and drawbacks of the proposed
strategy in making decision. Investigate the adaptability of the proposed analytics program
into the company environment.
6. Recommendation – Conclude all findings with proper recommendations and include
further action plan if any.
In-class Presentation Delivery
1. Students must deliver a group presentation based on their group assignment content. The
presentation should last approximately 15 minutes, followed by a 5-minute session for
questions and discussion. Presenters are responsible for prompting at least two questions
or comments from the audience.
2. You should wear suitable attire for the presentation. Slippers, short pants, and jogging
tracksuits are not permitted. Attendance is mandatory for all scheduled tutorial classes of
the presentations, even if you have already completed your presentation.

Submission
1. Please upload all required documents in softcopy via the LMS. Submissions in any other
format or platform will NOT BE ACCEPTED.

2. All work submitted must be original, where an assignment exceeds the word limit, a penalty
of 1 per cent of the total mark allocated for the assessment task applies for each 1 per cent
in excess of the word limit or the marking ceases once the word limit is reached.
3. Students are NOT REQUIRED to submit any Assessment Cover Page, Answer Booklet
Page, Questions Paper, Assessment Criteria, etc.
4. The LMS submission feature will automatically check for Turnitin’s similarity score and
AI detection; therefore, students must ensure that their writing is original with proper
paraphrasing when taking paragraphs from books or online resources. The maximum
Turnitin similarity score and the AI detection not more than 20% respectively after
declaration.
5. A penalty of 10% per day will be imposed for late submission.
