ODE Easy Test

The document outlines a test on ordinary differential equations, presenting a series of problems to solve, including various forms of differential equations and methods like Bernoulli's equation. It requires finding solutions for specific equations and general solutions for higher-order equations. Additionally, it asks for the derivation of a fourth-order linear homogeneous differential equation based on given particular solutions.

TEST OF ORDINARY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS

1. Find the solution of the following differential equations.(80 × 5)

(1) (2xsiny + 3x2 y)dx + (x3 + x2 cosy + y 2 )dy = 0.

dy x+y
(2) dx = x−y .

dy
(3) dx + x1 y = x3 . (x 6= 0).

(4) (3x2 + y)dx + (2x2 y − x)dy = 0.

(5) (x2 + 1)(y 2 − 1)dx + xydy = 0.

2.(80 ) Find the general solution of y 00 + ay = 0.

3.(100 ) Solve the differential equation y 000 + 3y 00 + 3y 0 + y = e−x (x − 5).

4.(100 ) Solve the differential equation y 00 − 5y 0 + 6y = xe2x .

5.(100 ) Solve the differential equation y 00 + y 0 − 2y = 3ex − 21 sinx.

6.(100 ) To find a fourth order linear homogeneous differential equation with constant coefficients
with y1 = ex , y2 = 2xex , y3 = sin3x, y4 = 7cos3x as particular solutions and find its general
solution.

7. (60 × 2)
(1)Solve Bernoulli’s equation when n = 0; when n = 1. (Bernoulli’s equation : y 0 + p(x)y = q(x)y n .)
(2) Show that if n 6= 0, 1, then the substitution z = y 1−n reduces Bernoulli’s equation to a linear
equation.
