Proposal Overview

Subject Expert Group: Rural Energy Systems

Title Of Technology: Technology Development

Village where it is to be implemented Timmampet

Background of the Project (Priority Need) Design and development of a Renewable Energy-Powered Water
Pumping System for village RO water plant Currently we are depending
on conventional water pumping systems and it is purely depending on
fossil fuels which will emits carbon footprints and many more negative
impacts on to the globe, for which we will design a solution that uses
the solar photovoltaic panels to generate clean energy. This power
harnessed to a controller called as variable frequency drive to pump
the water, it reduces reliance on traditional grid which will indirectly
reduce carbon footprint in the nature.

Brief Objective/s of the Project The main motto of the proposed idea is for” Greening the Green”. It will
rigorously work for an objective on “green energy powered water
pumping system design” and how effectively we can pump the water
through renewable energy sources

Methodology to be Adopted making use of renewable energy sources for drinking water

Funds Raised from Gram Panchayat Others

agencies

Describe your role at various stage of the The proposed method have a scope to work efficiently with proper
Project planning and execution .This project is decided to complete in 4 stages:
1.Energy estimation 2. Procurement of components3.Installation 4.
Testing

Describe your role at various stage of the Core objective is to develop an affordable water pumping solution,
project integrating photovoltaic (PV) solar power with Variable Frequency Drive
(VFD) technology ,it is targeting towards to reduce costs by utilizing
renewable energy sources and optimize water distribution for gram
panchayith RO plant .The system is to design targets regions with
Limited access to traditional electricity sources, aiming to lower
operational expenses and promote resource efficiency. Overall, this
innovative solution offers a sustainable approach to address water
scarcity, minimize expenses.

Impact on village/ Beneficiaries ● Sustainable water Management ● Reduction in fossil fuel

dependence ● Reduced carbon foot print ● Cost Savings

How to maintain future sustainability of The concept of the mentioned is on affordable water pumping solution
installed technology in the village combining multiple innovative technologies to create a cost-effective
approach to supply water to village RO plant ,aims to provide an
efficient and affordable way to pump water for Drinking water With
growing concerns about environmental sustainability, there is a rising
demand for Water pumping solutions that promote efficient water
usage, reduce energy consumption, and minimize environmental
impact. The solution aligns with these demands by offering a cost
effective and sustainable approach to water pumping To maintain the
future sustainability of the installed renewable energy-powered water
pumping system in the village, it is crucial to establish a robust
maintenance plan and community involvement. Training local
technicians on the operation, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance
of the system ensures that the community is self-reliant. Spare parts
should be stocked locally, and villagers should be educated about the
importance of preventive maintenance. A small maintenance fund can
be set up through community contributions or government support to
cover future repairs. Regular monitoring by trained individuals will help
identify and resolve issues promptly. Partnering with local NGOs or
government agencies can also ensure long-term support. Promoting a
sense of ownership among the villagers will encourage them to take
responsibility for the system's upkeep, ensuring its sustainable
operation for years to come
Impact of this work on learning of The project exposes students to make use of solar energy to power the
Students pump. They gain insight into how renewable sources can replace
conventional energy, reducing environmental impact Beyond the
technical aspects; the project fosters skills in teamwork,
communication, and project management. By working on this project
requires great collaboration, and students must work together to tackle
challenges such as selecting appropriate materials, ensuring reliability,
and optimizing costs. This teamwork helps them develop interpersonal
skills and prepares them for working in multidisciplinary teams in the
future. By contributing power to the existing village RO water plant for
Enugallu village, students see how their work can directly improve
people's lives by providing access to clean drinking water

Impact of this work on learning of The execution of this idea falls somewhere between moderate
Teacher complexity and simplicity. Integrating PV-powered VFD technology
requires expertise in solar energy,. Developing efficient solution for
optimal water distribution could be challenging. Moreover,
customization for varying Drinking water needs for village gram
panchayti RO water plant needs and local conditions might complicate
implementation several risk factors exist. Technical challenges include
ensuring seamless gram panchayti RO water plant of diverse
components and managing potential system failures. Weather
fluctuations could affect solar power generation, impacting pump
efficiency.

Role of PI after compilation of the project Design, developing, monitoring and testing
duration

Duration of monitoring by PI Post As a The Principal Investigator (PI) should monitor the project for a
Completion of the project duration of 3-6 months post-completion. This period is essential to
ensure the system's reliable performance and to address any technical
or operational issues that may arise. During this time, the PI can
evaluate the system's efficiency, energy usage, maintenance needs,
and overall impact on the village community. It also provides an
opportunity to train local operators, gather feedback, and make
necessary modifications for optimal long-term functionality.
