CAUTION
Damage to equipment will result if corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 98 [Expendable and Durable
Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound Fluid Film AR]), and corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item
103 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]), used on the tail rotor servo to tail
rotor quadrant push rod and flight control rods (forward of primary servo) are mixed. DO NOT MIX CORROSION
PREVENTIVE COMPOUNDS.
If maintenance requiring removal of the tail rotor servo to tail rotor quadrant push rod and flight control rods
(forward of primary servo) from aircraft is performed, the external application of Fluid Film Liquid AR must coincide
with the internal application of Fluid Film Liquid A and the external application of corrosion preventive compound,
grade 1 must coincide with the internal application of Lubricating Oil. DO NOT MIX CORROSION PREVENTIVE
COMPOUNDS.

NOTE
Refer to Cockpit Exterior for components that are to be inspected and have corrosion preventive compounds
applied.
When helicopters are operating in highly corrosive environments (continued exposure to salt water or salt air), the
Commander or Maintenance Officer may, at his/her discretion, increase the scope and/or frequency of the
application of corrosion preventive compounds to 30 days.

INSPECT

COCKPIT EXTERIOR

NOTE
The following components require inspection and application of corrosion preventive compounds at 90 day intervals.

1. Unlatch and open nose door.

2. Inspect battery as follows:

a. Open nose compartment.

b. Check battery connectors for damage, cleanliness, and corrosion.

c. Inspect main battery connector interior as follows:

(1) Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup
Removal.

(2) Inspect for corrosion. If corrosion is found, refer to Corrosion Removal Procedure No. 3.

(3) Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush,
Acid Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 108 [Expendable and
Durable Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

3. HH-60M Inspect nose door and nose avionics compartment as follows:

a. Inspect FLIR fairing as follows:

b. Remove FLIR fairing.

c. Check condition of FLIR and fairings.

d. Check for dents, cracks, missing hardware, corrosion, and/or damage.

e. Install FLIR fairing.

4. UH-60M Inspect nose door and nose avionics compartment as follows:

a. Check for dents, cracks, missing hardware, corrosion, and/or damage.

b. Inspect shock mounts for bottoming, corrosion, and/or security.

c. Inspect compartment for evidence of water intrusion.

d. Inspect around base of (EGI) receivers for corrosion.

5. Inspect nose section avionics compartment electrical connectors (exterior) as follows:

a. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to, Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

b. 2020

c. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 108 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

6. Close and latch nose door.

7. Inspect cockpit exterior as follows:

a. Inspect cockpit exterior skin for corrosion, dents, cracks, and/or missing rivets.

b. Check drain holes under pilots and copilots seats for blockage and/or evidence of corrosion.

c. Visually inspect nose door latches for corrosion.

d. Inspect windshield wiper arms for corrosion.

e. Inspect all antennas for corrosion and/or sealant deterioration.

f. Inspect wire strike deflectors for damage and/or corrosion.

g. Inspect cockpit door latches for corrosion.

8. Inspect pilots and copilots step assemblies for cracks, corrosion, and/or missing hardware.

COCKPIT INTERIOR

1. Inspect cockpit interior as follows:

a. Inspect entire cockpit interior for general cleanliness.

b. Inspect for evidence of oil leakage from ceiling, corrosion, and security of fasteners.

2. Inspect pilots and copilots seats as follows:

a. Check lap belts for corrosion, cuts, fraying, and security.

b. Check crotch belt for corrosion, cuts, fraying, and security.

c. Check shoulder harness for corrosion, cuts, fraying, and security.

CABIN EXTERIOR

1. Inspect cabin exterior as follows:

a. Inspect cabin exterior skin for corrosion, dents, cracks, and/or missing rivets.

b. Check drain holes on cabin tub bottom for blockage and/or evidence of corrosion.

2. HH-60M Inspect external rescue hoist as follows:

a. Inspect hoist support for corrosion, cracks, damage, and security.

b. Check hoist cowlings and fairings for damage and security, and inspect screw heads for corrosion.

3. Inspect main landing gear drag beam pivot pin as follows:

a. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to, Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

b. Inspect ID of pivot pin for corrosion. If corrosion is found, remove corrosion (WP 0635 [Main Landing
Gear Drag Beam]).

c. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 106 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

4. Inspect main landing gear weight-on-wheels switch electrical connectors (exterior) as follows:

a. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

b. Inspect for corrosion. If corrosion is found, refer to Corrosion Removal Procedure No. 3.

c. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 108 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

5. Inspect main landing gear drag beam jack pad as follows:

a. Inspect jack pad retention nut for presence and alignment of torque stripe.

b. Cover sealant with corrosion preventive compound,(WP 2091, Item 103 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]) and/or (WP 2091, Item 106 [Expendable and Durable Items List,
Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

c. Inspect all antennas for corrosion and/or sealant deterioration.

6. Inspect ESSS for corrosion as follows:

a. Remove fairings (WP 1266 [Cyclic Stick Slew-Up Trigger Switch Spring]).

b. Inspect and treat electrical connectors with corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 107
[Expendable and Durable Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

c. If corrosion is found, refer to Corrosion Removal Procedure No. 3.

d. Inspect and treat fuel and pneumatic fittings with corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 107
[Expendable and Durable Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

e. If corrosion is found, refer to Corrosion Removal Procedure No. 3.

CABIN INTERIOR

1. Inspect seats as follows:

a. Inspect troop/observer seat lap belts and shoulder harness for corrosion, cuts, fraying, and security.

b. Inspect gunner's seat lap belts and shoulder harness for corrosion, cuts, fraying, and security.

c. HH-60M Inspect medical attendant's seat lap belts, crotch and shoulder harness for corrosion, cuts,
fraying, and security.

2. Inspect cargo hook support structure for damage, corrosion, and/or cracks.

3. Inspect cargo hook emergency release and normal release electrical connectors (exterior) as follows:

a. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

b. Inspect for corrosion. If corrosion is found, refer to Corrosion Removal Procedure No. 3.

c. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 108 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

4. Inspect tail rotor control cables and pulleys as follows:

a. Remove soundproofing (WP 0529 [Soundproofing Panels]).

b. Inspect tail rotor control cables for wear, fraying, corrosion, and/or loose or missing plastic coating,
particularly in the pulley area.

c. Install soundproofing (WP 0529 [Soundproofing Panels]).

5. Inspect exterior of electrical connectors over fuel cells as follows:

a. Remove fuel cell enclosure panels.

b. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

c. Inspect for corrosion. If corrosion is found, refer to Corrosion Removal Procedure No. 3.

d. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 108 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

e. Install fuel cell enclosure panels.

TRANSITION/TAILCONE INTERIOR

1. Inspect transition and tailcone area for standing water, cracks, and/or corrosion.

2. Inspect electrical connectors (exterior) for corrosion and condition of preventative compound. Treat as necessary

TRANSITION AREA EXTERIOR

b. Inspect drain holes on transition section bottom area for blockage and/or evidence of corrosion.

c. Inspect all antennas for sealant deterioration and/or bare metal.

2. Inspect IHIRSS strut mounts at airframe attachment points for presence and condition of sealant.

3. Inspect UES debris exit areas for blockage and/or evidence of corrosion

TAILCONE EXTERIOR

1. Inspect tailcone exterior as follows:

a. Inspect for corrosion, cracks, dents, and/or missing rivets.

b. Inspect chaff dispenser mounts for condition, security, corrosion, and cleanliness.

c. Inspect all antennas for sealant deterioration and/or bare metal.

d. Inspect drive shaft for chipped paint, cracks, and/or corrosion.

e. Inspect drive shaft flanges for corrosion between tube and flange which can be identified by flaking paint.

f. Inspect disc pack couplings for corrosion and condition of corrosion preventative compound. Treat as
necessary.

g. Inspect drive shaft bearing supports for cracks, corrosion, distortion, and security.

2. Inspect tail wheel lock actuator, attaching hardware, and bellcrank lock mechanism as follows:

a. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

b. Inspect for corrosion. If corrosion is found, replace corroded parts (WP 0660 [Tail Landing Gear Lock
Mechanism]).

c. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 108 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

3. Inspect tail wheel lock actuator electrical connectors and all tailcone electrical connector exteriors as follows:

a. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

b. Inspect for corrosion. If corrosion is found, refer to Corrosion Removal Procedure No. 3.

c. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 108 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

TAIL PYLON

1. Inspect tail pylon as follows:

a. Inspect for corrosion, cracks, dents, and/or missing rivets.

b. Remove intermediate and tail rotor gear box fairings. Open tail pylon drive shaft cover.

c. Inspect driveshaft for chipped paint, cracks, and/or corrosion.

d. Inspect driveshaft flange for corrosion between tube and flange which can be identified by flaking paint.

e. Inspect disc pack coupling for corrosion and condition of corrosion preventative compound. Treat as
necessary.

2. Inspect intermediate gear box housing as follows:

a. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

b. Inspect gear box housing for corrosion, especially around housing joints, bolts, and studs. If corrosion is
found, remove corrosion (WP 0809 [Input Module Gimbal/Seal]).

c. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 108 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

3. Inspect tail rotor servo to tail rotor quadrant push rod as follows:

NOTE
Corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 98 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Corrosion
Preventive Compound Fluid Film AR]) and corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 103
[Expendable and Durable Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]) are both being used as
corrosion preventive compounds on the Tail Rotor Servo to Tail Rotor Quadrant Push Rods. If
reapplication or touch up of the corrosion preventive compounds is necessary, use the corrosion
preventive compounds that was previously used. MIL-C-16173, Grade 1, is a firm black coating and
Fluid Film Liquid AR is an amber, soft gel. DO NOT MIX CORROSION PREVENTIVE COMPOUNDS.
Exposed threads, serrated locking washers, slotted keyways, and witness holes are likely places for
intrusion of moisture and must be coated.
If aircraft is being operated in highly corrosive or erosive environment, where increased aircraft washes
are required, inspect the corrosion preventive compound integrity of the Tail Rotor Servo to Tail Rotor
Quadrant Push Rod after every wash. Allow push rod to dry then apply corrosion preventive compound,
(WP 2091, Item 98 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound Fluid Film
AR]) or corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 103 [Expendable and Durable Items List,
Corrosion Preventive Compound]) as needed. Use the corrosion preventive compounds that was
previously used. DO NOT MIX CORROSION PREVENTIVE COMPOUNDS.
If aircraft receives tail rotor maintenance involving hydraulic fluid, inspect the Tail Rotor Servo to Tail
Rotor Quadrant Push Rod for integrity of corrosion preventive compound. If integrity of corrosion
preventive compound has been violated, wash the push rod and surrounding area thoroughly and
allow push rod to dry. Apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 98 [Expendable and
Durable Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound Fluid Film AR]) or corrosion preventive
compound, (WP 2091, Item 103 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Corrosion Preventive
Compound]) as needed. Use the corrosion preventive compounds that was previously used. DO NOT
MIX CORROSION PREVENTIVE COMPOUNDS.

a. Inspect for external corrosion and integrity of corrosion preventive compound.

b. If damage is found, repair (WP 1226 [Control Rods (AVIM)]).

NOTE
Use the corrosion preventive compounds that was previously used. DO NOT MIX CORROSION PREVENTIVE
COMPOUNDS.

c. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 98 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound Fluid Film AR]), or (WP 2091, Item 103 [Expendable and Durable
Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]). DO NOT MIX CORROSION PREVENTIVE COMPOUNDS.

4. Inspect tail gear box housing as follows:

a. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

b. Inspect gear box housing for corrosion, especially around housing joints, bolts, and studs. If corrosion is
found, remove corrosion (WP 0809 [Input Module Gimbal/Seal]).

c. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 108 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

5. Inspect all tail rotor pylon section electrical connectors (exterior) as follows:

a. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

b. Inspect for corrosion. If corrosion is found, refer to Corrosion Removal Procedure No. 3.

c. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 108 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

MAIN ROTOR PYLON

NOTE
Corrosion preventive compound,(WP 2091, Item 98 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Corrosion Preventive
Compound Fluid Film AR]) and corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 103 [Expendable and Durable
Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]) are both being used as corrosion preventive compounds on the Tail
Rotor Servo To Tail Rotor Quadrant Push Rods. If reapplication or touch up of the corrosion preventive
compounds is necessary, use the corrosion preventive compounds that was previously used. MIL-PRF-16173,
Grade 1, is a firm black coating and Fluid Film Liquid AR is an amber, soft gel. DO NOT MIX CORROSION
PREVENTIVE COMPOUNDS.

If aircraft receives forward upper deck maintenance involving hydraulic fluid, inspect flight control Rods for integrity
of the corrosion preventive compound. If the integrity of the corrosion preventive compound has been violated,
wash the push rod and surrounding area thoroughly and all push rod to dry. Apply corrosion preventive
compound,(WP 2091, Item 98 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound Fluid Film
AR]) or corrosion preventive compound,(WP 2091, Item 103 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Corrosion
Preventive Compound]) as needed. Use the corrosion preventive compounds that was previously used. DO NOT
MIX THE CORROSION PREVENTIVE COMPOUNDS.

1. Inspect flight control rods (forward of primary servo) as follows:

a. Visually inspect all flight control rod assemblies for external corrosion and integrity of corrosion
preventive compound.

NOTE
Use the corrosion preventive compounds that was previously used. DO NOT MIX THE CORROSION
PREVENTIVE COMPOUNDS.

b. If damages is found. repair (WP 1226 [Control Rods (AVIM)]).

c. If required, using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush,
Acid Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound,(WP 2091, Item 98 [Expendable and Durable
Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound Fluid Film AR]) and corrosion preventive compound, (WP
2091, Item 107 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]). DO NOT MIX
THE CORROSION PREVENTIVE COMPOUNDS.

2. Inspect upper deck flight control rods, bellcranks, walking beam, and tie rods (aft of primary servo) as follows:

a. Visually inspect all flight control rod assemblies for external corrosion.

b. Inspect for scratched and worn paint.

c. If damage is found, repair (WP 1166 [Swashplate Link Inspections] and WP 1226 [Control Rods (AVIM)]).

3. Inspect main transmission as follows:

a. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

b. Inspect main transmission housing for corrosion, especially around housing joints, bolts, and studs. If
corrosion is found, remove corrosion (WP 0846 [Main Module Housing Repair]).

c. Inspect drain hole on forward bridge mount pad of transmission for clog or obstruction which could lead
to water entrapment. (Refer to Detail A for location of drain hole on main transmission).

d. Remove obstruction, and remove corrosion (WP 0846 [Main Module Housing Repair]).

e. Reapply corrosion preventative compound (WP 2091, Item 106 [Expendable and Durable Items List,
Corrosion Preventive Compound] ).

NOTE
The stringer or external strap is located on the outside of the fuselage skin under the main rotor pylon fairing
fuselage attachment flange.
Removal of the entire APU panel is not required to visually inspect the stringer/strap area. Remove enough
screws from bottom, forward, and top of the panel to gain access to the stringer/strap area. If corrosion is present,
the entire panel may be removed to remove and treat the corroded areas.

4. Inspect main rotor pylon fairing stringer (above skin at STA 460.0 to STA 480.0) as follows:

a. Remove enough screws from bottom, forward, and top sides of the APU panel to visually inspect the
stringer/strap area (WP 0457 [APU Panel]).

b. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

c. Inspect for corrosion to the left hand and right hand stringer/strap and skin behind the fairing attachment
in the area of STA 460.0 to STA 480.0. PITS SHALL NOT EXCEED 0.015-INCH DEEP. If corrosion is found
but does not exceed limits, refer to Corrosion Removal Procedure No. 6.

d. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 108 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

e. Install APU panel (WP 0457 [APU Panel]).

5. Inspect all main rotor pylon section electrical connectors (exterior) as follows:

a. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to, Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

b. Inspect for corrosion. If corrosion is found, refer to Corrosion Removal Procedure No. 3.

c. Using acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid
Swabbing]), apply corrosion preventive compound, (WP 2091, Item 108 [Expendable and Durable Items
List, Corrosion Preventive Compound]).

1. Inspect main rotor head for chipped paint, corrosion, and/or presence/condition of sealant.

2. Visually inspect entire main rotor system including main rotor blades, main rotor blade retention pins, bolts, nuts,
and washers for corrosion.

3. Check pitch control rod hardware and jam nut areas for presence/condition of sealant.

4. Inspect swashplate and scissors assembly for cracks, dents, distortion, corrosion, and security.

5. Inspect main rotor blade exposed balance washers, nuts, and bolts as follows:

a. Remove corrosion preventive compound. Refer to, Corrosion Preventive Compound Buildup Removal.

b. Inspect for corrosion. PITS IN WASHERS SHALL NOT EXCEED 0.020 INCH DEEP IS NOT ALLOWED IN
BOLTS AND NUTS. If corrosion is found on washers and does not exceed limit, perform this:

(1) Remove surface corrosion using abrasive mat,(WP 2091, Item 2 [Expendable and Durable
Items List, Abrasive Mat]) or corrosive removing compound, (WP 2091, Item 110 [Expendable
and Durable Items List, Corrosion Removing Compound]), with acid swabbing brush, (WP
2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List, Brush, Acid Swabbing]). Rinse and wipe
dry with machinery wiping towel, (WP 2091, Item 339 [Expendable and Durable Items List,
Towel, Machinery Wiping]).

(2) Apply epoxy primer coating kit, (WP 2091, Item 121 [Expendable and Durable Items List,
Epoxy Primer Coating Kit]).

AFT MAIN ROTOR PYLON

1. Inspect drive shaft flanges for corrosion between tube and flange identified by flaking paint.

2. Inspect drive shafts for chipped paint, cracks, and/or corrosion.

3. Inspect axial fan and compartment for chipped paint and/or corrosion.

4. Inspect ALQ-144 power cable and connector for condition and presence of corrosion preventive compound. Treat as
necessary.

5. Inspect ALQ-144 shock mounts and bonding straps for cracks and/or corrosion.

6. Inspect APU and compartment for corrosion.

7. Inspect UES fairings and exhaust ducts for corrosion, cracks, dents, tears, and/or missing rivets.

ENGINES

1. Inspect entire engine and engine compartment for corrosion and/or standing water.

2. Inspect cowling latches and hinge pins for corrosion.

Isopropyl, Alcohol Technical]) and acid swabbing brush, (WP 2091, Item 57 [Expendable and Durable Items List,
Brush, Acid Swabbing]). Dry using clean machinery wiping towel, (WP 2091, Item 339 [Expendable and Durable

3. Inspect area. PART MAY REMAIN IN SERVICE PROVIDING THAT ALL VISIBLE CORROSION IS REMOVED.

CAUTION
Damage to equipment will result if corrosion preventive compound contacts Teflon lined spherical bearings. Teflon
linings will degrade. Use care when applying corrosion preventive compound.
