HISTORY OF OUR
DEAR GSA
1966
The Birth of Good Shepherd Academy had 90
students supervised by Ms. Teresita del Fierro
and the first two teachers; Ms. Rosita Pilapil
and Ms. Epifania Calpo.
1967
Two-storey building was constructed to
accommodate the growing number of
students.From 90 students, the enrollment
escalated to 225
1968
From 225 students, the enrollment spikes up to 380
1969
Fourteen classroom building was completed, and
a well-equipped library served the needs of 500
students.
1970
Gsa first graduation happened in April 22, with 81
graduates. Ms. Teresita del Fierro (the first
principal) had to Left for Australia before the
significant milestone took place.
1975
Fr. German Mehler SVD (the first director) left
for home vacationin Germany. In his absence, Fr.
Wilfredo Mislang acted as director.
1977
After 12 years of hard work and countless sacrifice
of Fr. German Mehler, he was transferred to
Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro. Fr. Luis Halasz
SVD, took over as the new director.Fr. Halasz, also
administer the construction of the three-story
building.
1978
Ms Cabebe left the GSA for united state. GSA Hym
resounded for the first tim in the campus. The Hym
was a composition of Rev.Fr. Cireneu Kuhn, SVD and
the lyrics was written by Mrs. Consule del Ayre, pre-
elementary curse gained goverment recogniton. Fr.
San Juan Jr., SVD gave in the request of the parents
for the opening o s grsde school departmen
1979
The three-story building, third floor was converted to
four classrooms due to the increase in enrollment. Ms.
De Gracia left to pursue master’s degree. Mrs. Carmelita
A. Mendoza was appointed principal
1983
Fr. Halasz, SVD was re-assigned to Sablayan,
Occidental Mindoro
1984
On January 16, 1984, Fr. Adalia was appointed director.
Fr. Adalia’s enthusiasm encouraged the students to
participate actively in different religious and co-
curricular activities.The GSA band was organized by Mr.
Pepito D. Paned. GSA Band gained recognition as the
best band in a competition held on the celebration of
the 5th Founding Anniversary of the Oriental Mindoro
1986
Fr. Adalia was given a new assignment, Fr. Cenon
Garcia was entrusted to shepherd the GSA
Flock.GSA gained recognition in Division Contests
in Science and Mathematics.
1990
Fr. Garcia was assigned to another Parish. Fr. Jose
A. San Juan Jr., SVD was appointed as director.
He was also destined to head the celebration of a
great event- The silver Anniversary of GSA.
1991
GSA Celebrated her 25th anniversary. Fr.
German Mehler, SVD as well as former
directors, principals, teachers, alumni and
friends graced the momentous occasion
1992
Stewardship of the parochial Schools was
delegated to the new by Superintendent, Ms.
Evelia S. Orbeta. She started to consolidate
the 12 parochial schools in Oriental Mindoro
1995
A new faculty building was constructed in
order to respond to the needs of the
ever-increasing number of teachers
1997
On May 17, 1997. before the opening of the new
school year, The Grade School building was
razed by fire of unknown origin. After less than
a month through the relentless effort of Fr. San
Juan and the generous support of his friends
,the building was reconstructed
1998
Mrs. Carmelita A. Mendoza reached the retirement
age after 10 years in service as a classroom
teacher and 19 years as principal.The Department
of Education Culture & Sports (DECS) awarded
GSA Grade School Department as a complete
elementary school.
1999
After the retirement of Mrs. Mendoza, Ms. Evelia
S. Orbeta took over as the principal from May to
August.
2000-2001
This school year marked the new set of
administration. The school was run by the
Local Council composed of Fr. William B.
Abas, Mr. Vicente A. del Ayre, Mrs. Consuelo
R. del Ayre, Ms. Adahlia
2001-2002
The Technology and Home Economics Building
was constructed through the generosity of Fr.
John Seland, SVD, Makoto Yoshizaki, 15 Japanese
youth volunteers came add helped in the initial
construction of the building. Architect Eranio
Lopez, an alumnus of GSA made the plan and
supervised the construction. The building was
named Fr. John Seland, SVD building.
2002-2003
This year is worth remembering for the
remarkable improvements which enhance the
teaching -learning experiences of both teachers
and students.Old computers were replaced by
windows 2000 and Xp’s. Three computer
laboratories with 30 units each were used by
grade school and high school students.
2003-2004

was replaced by the Office of the Episcopal Vicar
for Catholic Educational Institutions.
2004-2005
Rev. Fr. William Abas initiated different projects
including GSA Gymnasium.The GSA gymnasium
groundbreaking ceremony was held September
23, 2004.
2005-2006
A red letter year for GSA-in the spirit of joy
and thanksgiving. Good Shepherd Academy
celebrates its Ruby Anniversary (40th).Mrs.
Flordeli a T. Emocling remained in her
position as Faculty President.
2006-2007
Mrs. Liezl E. Orbeta was elected Faculty
president.Rev. Fr. Norman F. Cusi was
installed the director of GSA.On January,
2007 Mr. Vicente del Ayre bade goodbye
to his comrades in the Academe because
of retirement.Fr. Luisito D. Catapang was
appointed acting principal of GSA.Mr.
Dindo M. Generato was appointed
Students Affairs Coordinator.
2007-2008
Mrs. Elizabeth G. Banawa, former principal of Sto.
Nino School of Roxas, was appointed AVCPS
academic Supervisor and at the same time the
Acting Principal of GSA.Mr. Pepito D. Paned was
appointed as Acting Assistant Principal to oversee
and manage the school during Mrs. Banawa’s
absence. New set up of the Director’s Counsil was
introduced, new Area coordinators and the Faculty
Club were organized. The GSA has continued to soar
high in all the competitions from district, division,
and regional levels. Mr. Pepito D. Paned declared SY
2007-2008 as the Year of the champions for GSA.
2008-2009
Mrs. Glecy M. Alquiza was elected Faculty
president.Mr. Dindo M. Generato’s third
year as student Affairs Coordinator.
2009-2010
Mr. Epitacio A. Gonzales was appointed acting
principal of GSA.New appointment were given
to;Mrs. Ma. Grace G. Jose hold the position of
being the Academic Affairs Coordinator for
the Grade School Department (AAC-GS).Ms.
Flora . Pote was appointed as Campus Minister
2010-2011
Special Science Class (SSC) was started with 31
pioneer students through the initiative and
visionary mission of Mrs. Glecy M. Alquiza,
Science Department Coordinator.Mr. Benedick p.
Gardoce on his second year as Student Affairs
Coordinator (SAC).Mrs. Glecy M. Alquiza was
elected faculty president for the third time.
2011-2012
January 2012-marked the history of the GSA for
its hosted the AVCPS=Meet where former
principals, faculty and staff who reached their
retirement age in the AVCPS were
recognized.May 1, 2012-Rev F . Norman F. Cusi
left GSA for a new assignment and Rev. Fr.
Edwin M. Semilla came to continue leading the
flock of the Good Shepherd.
2012-2013
Mrs. Lolinie M. Ibon remained her position as
Faculty President.The faculty president, Mrs.
Loline M. Ibon initiated the Canteen 3 as
additional income for the welfare of the faculty
and staff with Ms Marcelina Malvar as the
Canteen Manager.
2013-2014
Parochial School Athletic Association (PSAA)
was started. GSA Fighting Rams-(Basketball)
was awarded as the first runner up against PGA
Strings. GSA Fighting Rams-(Volleyball
girls)bagged the championship against NA
Lakers. Mrs. Lolinie M. Ibon was again elected
as Faculty President.
2014-2015
The GSA alumni donated brass instruments in
preparation for the golden anniversary of the
school. In the same year, GSA Brass band was
organized and became functional. Mrs. Lolinie
M. Ibon was appointed as external affairs
coordination (EAC). Mrs. Arlene H. Buensalida
was elected Faculty President .
2015-2016
June 16,2015 Kick-off of GSA’s 50th Founding A
nniversary. Parade of float per batch opened the
festive celebration. The Alumni Association
headed by Mr. Hilario A. Marasigan, Alumni
President, organized a concert for a cause.
2016-2017
Mr. Epitacio A. Gonzales left the position. After
seven years of leading the flock . Ms. Renelia C.
Adala was appointed as the Acting Principal of
GSA. The first batch of the senior Senior High
School, Curriculum began.
2017-2018
The Senior High School faculty had their facuty
room beside the GSA Gym. Mr. Kier G. Genil was
appointed as Academic Affairs Coordinator for
Senior High School (AAC-SHS). GSA Grade
School Dept. hosted the 9th Pupils encounter
2018-2019
Mr. Frederick C. Ortega was elected General
PTA president. The first Good News Visit of the
AVCPS Superintendent, Rev.. Fr. Raymond H.
Ruga, the DEO and the principal of the Markan
Community: Mrs. Teresita Ylagan (Naujan
Academy) and Our Lady of the Most Holy .
2019-2020
Mrs. Renelia C. Adalia celebrated her 60th
birthday and signed off as the Acting Principal
of the school.
2020-2021

Authorized organization and clubs
Central Student Council (CSC)
It is the supreme student government a representative
organization of students/pupils through which they
can become involved in the affairs of the school,
working in partnership with school administrators,
academic and non-academic personnel and parents
for the benefit of the school community. Its purpose is
to be imbue in the students/pupils the love of school,
to train them to become responsible servant leaders,
and to contribute in school and nation building.
Student Catholic Action (SCA)
It is a religious organization, an organized group of
students/pupils striving to become evangelized and
evangelizing community of disciples of Jesus Christ
in faith and service. As a movement for, by and with
the pupils/students, the method of See-Judge-Act is
used in the movement’s actions, activities and
programs. It is focused and gives highest priority on
leadership formation. It spearheads community
outreach programs and activities which include
organized run/walk for a cause, environment clean
and green projects, and other such.
Liturgical Ministries Association (LMA)
It is an association of students/pupils that provides
opportunity to fulfill baptismal call of service to one
another through a public role of service within the
Mass and other worship services. It aims at helping
school liturgies to be truly life-giving celebrations.
Among the ministries are : Acolytes (Altar Servers),
Lectors of the word in the Eucharistic Celebration,
Commmentators, Ushers & Usherettes,
and Collectors.
Academic Club (ACC)
It is essentially a group that is organized to provide
opportunities for students/pupils to enhance their academic
development as they strengthen their leadership skills and
develop activities or discussions based on major academic
curricula. The intent of an academic club is to generate
enthusiasm for academic subjects, while encouraging
student/pupil involvement and achievement to compete in
competitions. It is even geared towards discovering and
developing gifted students/pupils in the field of either
academic-based of technology-based learning competencies.
It is involved in designing and organizing academic programs
and activities in school. It is also involved in mentoring and
tutoring slow- learners in the school community.
Theater and Visual Arts Guild (TVAG)
It is the primary arts venue in and for the school
community which provides the students/pupils with a
variety of opportunities to get involved with the
performing arts. It hosts a wide range of arts events
from all disciplines including music, drama, dance,
comedy, festivals and visual arts events. It is also
tasked to design and organize program curricula for
Theatre and Stage and Visual Arts during the school
days and an extensive after-school program.
Varsity Debate Team (VDT)
It is a group of students/pupils trained to be debaters
of the school. It is engaged in various forms of
interactive and representational debate compititions.
Its majorgoal is to develop the ability to debate
rationally, judiciously and realistically. It is tasked to
design and organize a short course in Argumentation
and Debate to the learner’s skills in public debates in
whatever forms which subsequently hone their mental
prowess and life’s practical skills to think, discern and
resolve matters reasonably before taking appropriate
position and proper action.
School Scouting Movement (SSM)
It is an affiliated organization of the Baden-
Powell Scouts’ Association. It is a movement that
aims to support students/pupils in their physical,
mental and spiritual development, that they may
play constructive roles in society. with a strong
focus on the outdoors and survival skills. It aims
to providing a flexible and active scouting
program for pupils/students, with an emphasis
on personal challenge and adventure. Its mission
is to imbue in the students/pupils the love of
God, country, and fellow men and women; to
train young people to become responsible
leaders; and to contribute in nation-building. For
Boy Scouts, it includes KID Scouts (ages 3 to 4);
KABS Scouts (ages 5 to 7 years of age); Boy
Scouts (ages 7 to 12); Senior Scouts (ages 13 to
17). For Girl Scouts, it includes: Twinkler Scout
(ages 4 to 6); Star Scout (ages 6 to 9); Junior Girl
Scout (ages 9 to 12); Senior Girl Scout (ages 12 to
15). Included also are Rover Scouts (17-25).
Campus Marshalls force (CMF)
It is an organization of students/pupils of the
school that provides physical security and law
enforcement duties in executing the lawful
orders of the school administrators towards the
achievement and preservation of peace and
order in the school community. Members are
known to be stable keepers or stable servants
for and in the service of the school programs,
projects and activities.
Campus Press Corps (CPC)
It is an organization of student/pupil-journalists engaged
in promoting and developing campus journalism. It is a
means of strengthening ethical values, encouraging
critical and creative thinking, and developing moral
character and personal discipline of the students/pupils.
It also aims at improving journalistic skills and promoting
responsible and free campus journalism. It is tasked to
design and organize a short course in Journalism to
develop the learner’s skills required in mass
communication (journalism broadcasting media). Its main
focus in primarily to engage the learners in the different
activities to hone their journalistic and broadcasting skills.
