Colored Pencil Techniques


Do not use​ black, gray, or brown pencils. ​All colors must be blended ​smoothly​ together.

Color Spectrum:​ blend the colors from the color wheel to create a color spectrum.

Mix Complementary colors:​ colors will blend a brown color in the middle.

Red-------------------------------------Green Yellow-----------------------------Violet Blue------------------------------Orange

Color Temperature:​ Use the warm and cool color for each color, check the color wheel (example the colors on either
side of RED are red-orange and red-violet.)

Modeling spheres using color temperature: ​Blend in a circular/triangle rotation.

Red, Orange, and Yellow. Yellow, Green, and Blue. Blue, Violet, and Red.
