2. POSITION PURPOSE
Reporting to the General Manager, the Process Manager will be responsible for the leadership, management and technical
excellence of the processing plant, analytical laboratory and tailings storage facility.
To lead the Process Department operating and metallurgy sections as a unified team to responsibly and efficiently manage the
process plant and the respective tailings storage facility to meet or exceed budget in terms of gold produced whilst minimising
the cost per tonne and cost per ounce targets through maximising plant utilisation and optimising metallurgical production
processes. Through focusing on performance management, sets expectations and guides and coaches the operating and
metallurgy sections in identifying, pursuing and delivering continuous improvement in production efficiencies and cost
performance through systematically eliminating productivity impediments to deliver superior plant operating times, throughput
and recovery in line with company strategic goals. Collaborates with Maintenance to eliminate repetitive causes of process
plant downtime.
To provide leadership in meeting health, safety, regulatory, environmental and gold security compliance expectations.
• Provide technical expertise in the disciplines of metallurgy, maintenance, production and design associated with the
processing activities including but not limited to feasibility studies, and operating activities such as personnel
development and mentoring, plant design, project support services and technical due diligence reviews.
• Ensure that safety protocols and safe operating procedures are followed
• Ensure that safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out and operating procedures are followed in the operation of all unit
operations and ancillaries
• Liaise with mining department to optimise the feed to the plant to ensure best use of the resource at all times
• Liaise closely with the fixed plant maintenance team to enable safe plant operation and maximise plant run-time
• Develop and maintain an auditable metal accounting system for the process plant
• Evaluating process performance to identify and initiate development opportunities
• Provide support to the process unit operations daily to operations personnel to maximise production and efficiencies
and optimise costs
• Review plant design for debottlenecking and efficiency/operability improvements and initiate, and provide financial
justification for related capital projects
• Oversee the site input into the development of new ore bodies and Process Plant circuit changes required to
optimise throughput and gold recovery
• Report on plant activities and performance indicators
• Development of personnel in the Operations and Metallurgy teams by providing mentoring and technical guidance to
support the nationalisation of all roles in the metallurgy team.
• To provide innovative process solutions and develop strategies for plant optimisation
Working Internal: All PMC - Mako maintenance, mining and commercial managers and superintendents
relationships External: RML Chief Operating Officer, RML General Manager Technical Services, and RML
Group Metallurgist, RML General Manager Projects. MolyCop, Orway Mineral
Consultants and equipment suppliers.
