▪ Spreadsheet of MS Office : MS Excel (Apple company : Numbers)
▪ Collection of Sheet is known as : Workbook (Another name for MS Excel)
▪ Number of default sheet in MS Excel :
• New : Sheet1
• Old : Sheet1 , Sheet2 Sheet3
▪ Rows : 1,2,3…. (denoted by Number)
▪ Column : A, B C …. (denoted by alphabet)
▪ Old versions : Rows : 65,356 | Columns : 256

▪ Number of Tabs in MS Excel : 9 tabs
• File, Home, Insert, Page Layout, Formulas, Data, Review, View and Help.
▪ Default Tab in MS Excel : Home Tab
▪ Wrap text in present under : Home Tab
• Shortcut for Wrap text : Alt + H + W
▪ Merge & Centre is a part of Home Tab.
▪ Sort & Filter data : Home Tab
▪ Default font face and size : Calibri, 11points
▪ AutoSum is in two locations: Home > AutoSum, and Formulas > AutoSum.
▪ Sparklines is present under Insert Tab
▪ We can add hyperlink using Insert Tab (Shortcut : Ctrl + K)
▪ Insert Tab : Header & Footer
▪ Page Layout : Type of orientation : Portrait and Landscape
▪ The Functions tab lists all available functions by category.

▪ Name Box shows Cell Address of the selected cell. (By default it shows A1).
▪ Formula Bar shows formula .
▪ Formula starts = (equals to)
▪ Example : =SUM (A1:A5), =COUNT(D2:D9)
▪ Functions to insert date and time : =NOW()
▪ Function for Date : =TODAY() (Shortcut : ctrl + ; )
▪ Current Time : Ctrl + Shift +;
▪ Date and time in same cell : Ctrl + ; Space Ctrl + Shift + ;
▪ Ctrl + N : New Workbook

▪ F2 : to edit a cell

▪ Shift + F7 : Thesaurus
▪ Alt + F8 : Macros
▪ Ctrl + 9 : Hide a Row
▪ Atl + I + R : to add new row above a given row
▪ F11 or Alt + F1 = Create Chart (Pie chart, Line chart) (Tab: Insert)
▪ Cell Referencing (Range)
▪ Absolute Cell Reference : $A$1
▪ Mixed Cell Reference : $A1 or A$1
▪ Relative Cell Reference : No Dollor sign is used ( A1)

▪ =CONCATINATE() : combine or concatenate multiple cell values
into one.
▪ =MOD() : used to calculate remainder
▪ Range is denoted by - : (colon) [A1:A5 = A1,A2,A3,A4,A5]

Column : A,B,C,D ie. 4 column
Rows : 7
Rows x Columns = 7x4 = 28 ( Count )

▪ =COUNT(A2:C5) : ?

▪ =COUNT(A10:C20) : ?

▪ =SUM(A2:B2) = Adding a cell


▪ SUMSQ(A2:B2) = (12 + 32) = 10

A Doughnut chart in Excel in similar to: Pie Chart
A tiny chart are placed in single cell are called : Sparklines
Basic chart in Excel : Bar chart , Pie Chart and Line Chart
Symbol used to specify the fixed column or rows : $
At a time 256 users can open a excel file at a time.
Default alignment of data in MS Excel :
• Text : Left Aligned
• Numbers : Right Aligned
What is the address of cell in 10th Row and 7th Column ? : G10
What is the address of cell in 9th Row and 6th Column ?
Starting Letter of coloumn : A | End letter : XDF
