Detailed Lesson Plan

In
TLE Grade 8

Subject: TLE Electronics Date: March 10, 2025

Grade: 8 Compassion Duration: 1hour

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
A. give the resistance value of a carbon resistor;
B. compute for the value of resistors based on its color code;
C. follow correctly the steps in color coding resistor.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Concept: Resistor
B. Sub-Concept: Steps in Color Coding of Resistor
C. Reference: Pagarigan, Marconi, Practical Electronics Solid State Servicing, pp.51-
64
D. Materials:s Laptop, PowerPoint, Television, Chalkboard, Eraser and Cartolina.

III. Procedure

Teachers’ Activity Students’ Activity

A. Preparation
Good morning class! Good morning Sir!
Vallejos can you please lead the prayer.
(Prayer)
1. Checking of attendance
I have Classroom Rules:
First, raise your right hand if you want to
recite or have a question. You don’t need
to say “Sir”
Second, refrain from doing unnecessary
movement while our discussion is
happening. (Respect the one who is
talking)
Lastly, stay active and enjoy the
discussion.
Failure to comply with the rules will have
a deduction on the points that you will
have later on our activity.
Understood class?
Yes Sir!
2. Review of Past Lesson
Last meeting, we ended up the lesson
about in basic hand tools. Yes Sir!

What tool is use to driven and fasten

negative slotted screws? Slotted Screwdriver Sir!
How about the tools used in measuring
voltage, resistance and current?
Multitester

B. Motivation
To start off, I prepared an Activity Game
Called “STROOP COLOR WORD
TEST”. I will group you into 3 Groups.
To group you, please count 1 up to 3.

Let’s start in front.

(Students start counting)
Now, go to your respective group and
Yes Sir!
move quietly.

For this activity game, form a line by

group and all of you need to participate. (Students forming a line)
Please read the direction Ms. Bangayan?

Direction: “STROOP COLOR WORD

TEST” Say the names of the colors you
see, not the colors you read.
You need to name the color you see and
not the word.

For the go signal I am going to count 1 up

to 3 before I raise the color word and
after answering of first participant, they
need to go in the back line for the next
turn to answer. The fastest to respond will
get the points.

For the winning group will receive a

prize.

Understood class?
Yes sir!

Okay! Get ready! Let us start, 1, 2, and 3!

Before we proceed to our formal

discussion, lets us have our learning At the end of the lesson, the students
objectives. should be able to:
A. give the resistance value of a carbon
resistor;
B. compute for the value of resistors
based on its color code;
C. follow correctly the steps in color
coding resistor.

C. Analysis
Before we go further, kindly match
column A to column B.
UNLOCKING OF DIFFICULTIES:
 Color Code-to indicate the
resistance value of a carbon
resistor.
 Carbon resistor-is a type of
resistor that needs to be color
coded.
 First color band-tells the first
significant digit of the resistor.
 Second color band- tells the
second significant digit of the
resistor.
 Third color band-tells the
multiplier (a number of zeroes to
be added).
Fourth color band-tells the tolerance (a
percentage of the actual value of a
resistor)

Referring to the table, how many columns

do we have?
There are five columns Sir!

What is in the first column?

The different kind of colors Sir!

Class, can you enumerate the different

colors used in color coding resistor? Black, Brown, Red, Orange, Yellow,
Green, Blue, Violet, Gray, White, Gold,
and Silver.
To help you memorize the arrangement of
the colors, what sentence can we adopt? Black Boys Raved Our Young Girl But
Violeta Guard WellGordio Said No
Colordo.
How about in second column? It comprises the first significant digit Sir!
How about in the third column? It shows the second significant digit Sir!
The fourth column is? The multiplier sir!
And the fifth column is? The tolerance sir!

Class, in color coding resistor there are

some steps to follow. What are those?

Steps in Color Coding Resistor

1. Identify the different colors of the
resistor.
2. Get the value of the first color in the
first significant digit.
3. Get the value of the second color in
the second digit.
4. Take or write down the first and
second color.
5. Get the value of the third color in the
multiplier.
6. Multiply the first and second value to
the third color.
7. Take the product and that will be the
value of resistor.
8. Take the value of the fourth color in
the tolerance.

D. Application
For another group activity, you stay in
same group. Each group will be having a
chalkboard and eraser.

You need to give the resistance value of

the resistors that I am going to show you
by writing your answer on the slate board Criteria 5pts. 4pts. 3pts.

Safety Precautions!

When performing the activity, what are 1. Avoid inhaling the dust of the chalk.
the safety precautions that we must
observe? 2. Raise your board carefully to avoid
hitting the face of your groupmates.
Do you understand class?
Yes Sir!
Get ready! Let’s start.

Very good class job well done give

yourself round of applause.

E. Abstraction
In your own words, who among you can
tell the steps in color coding resistor?
Do you think following the steps
correctly in color coding resistor is Yes Sir!
important?
Why?
It helps us to get the correctly value of
the resistor.

F. Valuing
In what instance can we apply our
knowledge in color coding resistor in our
life? When we are asked to buy, we can check
whether the value of resistor given is
correct.

IV.EVALUATION

Distribute the printed circuit board with resistors to each group. Let the students
give the resistance value of the resistors mounted on the board.

V. ASSIGNMENT

A. Follow Up
Direction: Find the value of the following resistor. Write your answer in ¼
sheet of paper.
1.Brown, Black, Red, Gold
2. Orange, Orange, Green, Silver
3. Blue, Gray, Green, Gold
4. Red, Yellow, Black, Gold
5. White, Brown, Black, Silver

B. Advance
Direction: Answer the following question.
1.What is OHMS Law?
2.What are the formula used in Ohms Law?
