28. The speed of the boat in still water is 11 km/h. It can go 12 km upstream and return downstream to

33. In the given figure the radius of incircle of AABC of area 84 cm2 is 4 cm and the lengths of the
segments AP and BP into which side AB is divided by the point of contact P are 6 cm and 8 cm. Find

34. A sphere of diameter 12 cm is dropped in a right circular cylindrical vessel partly filled with water.

Case Study-Based questions

36. A Ferris wheel (or a big wheel in the United Kingdom) is an amusement ride consisting of a rotating
upright wheel with multiple passenger-carrying components (commonly referred to as passenger
cars, cabins, tubs, capsules, gondolas, or pods) attached to the rim in such a way that as the wheel
turns, they are kept upright, usually by gravity.
After taking a ride in Ferris wheel, Aarti came out from the crowd and was observing her friends
who were enjoying the ride. She was curious about the different angles and measures that the wheel
will form. She forms the figure as given above.

(i) Find the value of ∠ROQ.


(ii) Find the value of ∠RSQ.
(iii) Find the sum of the two angles ∠RQP and ∠ORP.
Or
Now, Aarti goes towards the wheel at point T and observes that the angle of elevation now
is double of that earlier. Find ∠RQT.

37. The speed of a motor boat is 20 km/h. For covering the distance of 15 km the boat took 1 hour more
for upstream than downstream.
(i) Let speed of the stream be x km/h. then find the speed of the motorboat in upstream.
(ii) What is the relation between speed, distance and time?
(iii) How much time boat took in downstream?

38. In figure, a tower is shown of height 80 m. A bird is sitting on the


top of tower as shown at point A. After 2 seconds the birds fly away
horizontally but remain at constant height. Now, the angle of
elevation from observation point C, changes from 45° to 30° as

Answer the questions based on above
(i) Find the distance BC.
(ii) Find the distance CE.
(iii) Find the speed of bird, when flies from point A to D.

If bird covers distance AD in 5 seconds, then find speed of bird in m/s.
