These start off easy and get harder. See how many you can do.

1. Dom goes shopping at 3 o’clock and returns at 6 o’clock. How long does he
spend at the shops?

2. If a race starts at 4 o’clock and lasts for 5 hours, what time does it finish?

3. Sammy takes half an hour to do his homework. He starts at quarter past 3.


What time does he finish?

4. Chickens go to bed at 8 o’clock in the evening and wake up at 4 o’clock in the


morning. How long do they sleep?

5. A man goes to work at quarter past 8. He comes home at quarter

past 5. How many hours does he work?

6. I leave home at half past 10. It takes me 20 minutes to drive to work. What
time do I arrive?

7. It takes Jeremy 45 minutes to cycle to his flute lesson. He leaves at ten past
2, when does he arrive?

8. A birthday party starts at half past 1. It last for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
What time does it end?
9. A bowling game takes 10 minutes for each person playing. If 5 people play,
how long does it take? If they start at 4:20 what time will they finish?

10. Mr Smith goes to work at 7:50 and finishes at 5:20. He has an hour for
lunch. How long does he spend working?

11. A duck race is due to start at 1:40, but there is a delay of 55 minutes due to
escaped ducks. What time does the race start? The winning duck
completes the race in 25 minutes. What time does she finish?

12. School starts at 9 o’clock and finishes at 3:25. You have a 20 minute break in
the morning and a 15 minute break in the afternoon. Lunch lasts for 1 hour. How
long do you spend in lessons?

3. Jack watches a movie on the TV. It starts at 3:30 and lasts


for 50 minutes. What times does it finish?

4. Matthew has been very busy at the sports centre. He started


playing tennis at 10:00 and played for 45 minutes. Then he
played basketball for 20 minutes. What time is it now?

5. Joseph has been playing on the Xbox for 50 minutes. His mum
tells him it is now 9:10. What time did he start to play?
