Job Title: Finance Manager Function: Finance and Accounting


Reporting to: Finance Director

Role Objective:
To lead the finance and accounting activities and to maintain systems to facilitate effective financial control within the Company.
To ensure smooth functioning of the Finance Department, that include financial reports and statement preparation in line with
International Financial Reporting Standards, budget preparation, cash flow management, and other activities as required, to
meet the Institution’s needs.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

1. Ensure that the team is adequately staffed as per business requirements and allocate work and responsibilities to direct
subordinates to develop their capabilities and build a strong succession pipeline for the role.

2. Establish the performance plans for direct subordinates; monitor and guide them in managing their performance by

providing appropriate and timely feedback.

3. Participate in the identification of training and development initiatives for all employees in the Finance Department and
ensure continuous on-the-job training and other learning initiatives.

4. Evaluate the performance of the Assistant Finance Manager and other team members.

1. Develop the Company ’s strategic direction and business plans including financial goals and objectives, budgets, cash
flow, and revenue targets at the Institutional level.

2. Develop updates to the accounting framework including the advancement of key finance and accounting policies and
procedures, and internal controls and ensure their implementation.

3. Take a role in identifying opportunities to improve effectiveness of Company financial and administrative systems.

4. Ensure proper implementation of the financial and accounting system in the Company .
Operational

5. Develop cost allocation methodology to be applied for identifying, aggregating and assigning costs to cost centers of the
Company .

6. Review and sign off the Budget Calendar, budget assumptions, guidelines and templates developed by the Assistant
Finance Manager prior to circulation.

7. Review and approve standalone budgets prior to aggregation for the preparation of master budget.

8. Monitor and review the master budget on a continual basis to advice and recommend corrective actions regarding major
variances.

9. Review and approve financial entries for posting in the financial system.

10. Review and approve financial statements of the Company as a whole.

11. Oversee the preparation and accuracy of internal and external reporting, and analyze and disseminate financial and
non-financial information for Board of Directors decision-making.

12. Oversee and endorse budget transfers and overruns.

13. Approve additions or changes to the Chart of Accounts prior to implementation (including opening of new accounts,
freezing/modifying existing accounts).
Operational

14. Mange security of data and access rights to the system.

15. Supervise proper accounting procedures regarding fixed assets, cash management, accounts payable and other relevant
accounts.

16. Assist in the planning and management of capital assets and oversee the maintenance of the asset register.

17. Co-ordinate with Procurement key personnel for the purchase of goods and supplies, to ensure Company obtain best
value for money from suppliers and contractors by reviewing and advising on contracts from a financial perspective.

18. Ensure effective and timely liaison with the External Auditor to ensure quality of audit procedures and financial records.

19. Carry out all necessary actions to ensure that the Institute meets its financial and legal obligations set by regulatory
bodies.

20. Maintain good relations with financial institutions and other external key personnel.
