Workday Basics

CONFIGURABLE SECURITY
VIEW CONFIGURABLE SECURITY COMPONENTS
1. Navigate to the Functional Areas report.
2. Filter the report by Functional Area, select Projects, and then Filter.
3. In the Includes Domains and Includes Business Processes columns, select + More to see all
related domains and business processes.
4. Select the Set Up: Project domain.
5. In the Domain Security Policy field, select the magnifying glass to view the policy.
6. In the Securable Actions field, select the number 40 to drill into a list of all securable actions
secured to the Set Up: Projects domain.
Note: In the report, note which securable actions require View permissions versus Modify
permissions.
7. In the Report/Task Permissions section, select the Project Administrator role.
Note: The Project Administrator role has both View and Modify permissions.
8. Notice that Project Administrator is a User-Based Security Group, so it is assigned directly to
users.
9. Select Members to expand the section and see which users are assigned to the role.
10. On your browser tab, select the back arrow to return to the domain security policy.
11. In the Report/Task Permissions section, select the Controller role.
Note: The Controller role only has View permissions.
12. Notice that Controllers is a Role-Based Security Group, so it is assigned to positions through
organization assignments. In this case, assignments apply to the current organization and all
subordinates.
13. In the Assignable Role field, select Controller.
14. Notice that the Controller role is assigned on the Company and Company Hierarchy
organization types.
15. In the Current Role Assignments, notice there is one assignment for the Workday University
Institutions company. The role assignment applies to all subordinate organizations as well.
