Stratford-upon-Avon
There are many interesting places to visit for tourists coming to the UK for a holiday. Somewhere that is suitable for
both adults and children is Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding area. Here are just three things we recommend
you do if you visit:
Tudor World
Tudor World is a living history museum. You can walk through the house and see what life was really like for the
Tudors in the 15th and 16th centuries, including William Shakespeare and Henry VIII, as well as everyday people.
Children are allowed to touch objects, and even try on clothes. After dark, you can take a ghost tour with a local
guide, but this is just for adults as some of the stories are terrifying!
A short walk from the town centre is the cottage where Anne Hathaway grew up. She was, of course, married to
William Shakespeare. He visited her at the house when he came back from London. Helpful guides are able to
share stories about the Hathaway family who lived there from the mid-1500s to the early 1900s. For more active
visitors, you can spend some enjoyable hours walking through the huge gardens or exploring the forest.
Warwick Castle
Warwick Castle is a short drive away from Stratford-upon-Avon. It’s an exciting place to spend the day as there is
usually a lot happening. The castle is over 950 years old but children won’t get bored as there is so much to do at
this historical site. Since 2018, the castle has held the Dragon Slayer show. There are lights, horses and fighting,
and visitors can even see a huge dragon attacking the castle. You must book tickets early as the show is extremely
popular.
