Prayer

Please all stand.

Who can lead the prayer?
Father God, as we start this new day for
new learning, we ask for your guidance.
Lead us all the way. May you let us see
through your eyes, listen through your
ears, and speak with your mouth. Be
with us as we explore the world. Give us
the heart to love and be kind to one
another. Amen.
Amen.
2. Greetings
Good morning class!

Good morning ma’am.

Before you sit down please arrange
the chairs properly and pick up
pieces of paper.

All done? Okay you may now take

your seats.

Yes, Ma’am.
How are you today class?
3. Check attendance We’re fine ma’am.
Who is absent for today class?

4. Classroom Rules
Before we formally start our lesson, I
want all of you to be aware of the
following rules:
We should always be SMART.
S– Speak when necessary
M – Maintain focus
A – Always listen and follow
directions.
R – Respect your teacher and your

A. Review
Yesterday, we tackled about the
about simple machines we will be
having a quick activity recap for our
past discussion. I have here a
spinning wheel which is used for
choosing your names. When the spin
stops and pointing at your name it
means you are the one to arrange
the given words.

Understood?

So the title of our activity today is all Directions: Arrange the jumbled

All clear? Yes, ma`am

Very Good!
Now since you already understand
our past lesson, let’s proceed.

So I have here a set of pictures that

we need to analyze for us a word.

instances of the lesson
Can you name an examples of Television, Air conditioner, Washing
appliances that we use at home? Machine, etc.

How do these appliances work? With the use of the use of electricity
ma’am.
Is electricity important? Why?
(Pupil’s answer may vary)
Did you know class that the
appliances that you have mentioned Yes, Ma’am
have electromagnets in them? And
that is our topic for today.
Not yet ma’am.

To check if you have prior knowledge
about our lesson, let us have a short
pre-test.

This activity is entitled;

“FACT OR BLUFF”

Direction: Read the statements

below and tell whether the
statement is FACT or BLUFF.

1. Electromagnets are used in

computers, loud speakers, doorbells,
and pieces of furniture.

2. Electromagnets are permanent

magnets that can attract any metal
or magnetic material.

3. An electromagnetic may be
produced by making electricity flow
through a coil of wire wind around an
iron nail.

4. When electricity stops flowing

through a coil of wire the nail
continues attracting any metal or
magnetic material.

concepts and practicing
new skills

Electromagnetism
- the electrical and magnetic
forces or effects produced by
an electric current.

Parts of an Electromagnet

Battery – a device containing an

electric cell storing energy that can
be converted into electrical power.

Nail – a small metal spike with a

broadened flat head.

Wire – metal is drawn out into the

form of a thin flexible thread or rod.

Coil – arranged in a spiral or

sequence of rings.

Uses of electromagnets

Using electromagnets, you can

create all sorts of thin, you can
create all sorts of things, including
motors, solenoids, hard disks and
tape drives, speakers, and many
others. Iron, Nail, Wire, Battery, Coil

Electromagnets have many uses.

1. It is used to transmit signals,

as in the telegraph,
telephone, radio.
2. It is also used for industrial
purposes, such as in motors,
generators, and
transformers.t is also used for
industrial purposes, such as in
motors, generators, and
transformers.
3. The electromagnet in a crane
is used to lift heavy objects
like metals, steel bars, scrap
iron, and cars.
4. Electromagnets are used in
bells, buzzers, chimes,
circuits breakers.
5. Electromagnets run electric
toys.

effects produced by an electric current.
What is the Electromagnet?

What are the four parts of Iron, Nail, Wire, Battery, Coi4

D. Developing Mastery

Now that you have learned about

electromagnetism, I will test your
mind.

Application
Group Activity:

We will be having an activity. I will

divide you into 4 groups. The
activity that you are going to do is
entitled,

“LABEL ME”
Direction: Each group will have
labeled the parts of an
electromagnet on the given
illustration below. And present your
work in the class. The pupil’s will do their activity.

1._________ The pupil will present their work.

2._________

3._________

4._________

Good Job!

REMEMBER THESE:

 An electromagnet attracts like a

real magnet but it is a temporary

magnet.

 The iron nail acts as magnet while

electricity from the battery is flowing
through the coil of wire.

 When electricity stops flowing

through the coil to the nail it can no
longer attract the pin and
thumbtacks.

 An electromagnet can be made

stronger by using more coils of wire.

 The number of battery or dry cell

also affects the strength of an

electromagnet.

 Electromagnets are used in our

home appliances and gadgets
E. Evaluating learning

EVALUATE
Since that you have learned our
lesson today. You need to answer
the following:

Understood class?

False

Task 1: “TRUE OR FALSE”

True
Read the statements. Identify the
statement if it is TRUE or FALSE.
False
______1. Electromagnet is a
permanent magnet.

______2. Magnetic force may also be False

produced by ordinary electric
current.

______3. Coil of wire is the source of True

electricity.

______4. An electromagnet works

only when there is a flow of gas
through the coil of wire.

______5. Electromagnet is made up of

an iron core, copper wire and source
of electricity.

Task 2: “WHAT AM I?”

Identify what part of an

electromagnet is being described.
Choose the right answer in the
illustration below.
