REINFORCED CONCRETE EXAM #1

The document outlines an exam for the College of Engineering at JRMSU Main Campus, focusing on the analysis and design of singly reinforced concrete T-beams. It includes various problems requiring calculations for effective flange width, required steel area, ultimate moment capacity, and permissible moment capacity based on given parameters. The exam tests students' understanding of reinforced concrete principles and design specifications.

REINFORCE CONCRETE EXAM

NAME: RATING:
ANALYSIS OF SINGLY REINFORCED:
1.Determine the effective flange with for a symmetrical
T-beam with a span of 6 m. ~The width of web is 250
mm, the slab thickness is 120 mm, and the clear
distance to adjacent beams is 3m.
2.A reinforced concrete T -beam with bt = 813 mm, d =
300 mm, bw = 200 mm, t = 102 mm, fc = 20.7 MPa,
and fy = 414 MPa is to be designed to carry an factored
moment of 221 kN-m. Determine the required steel
area A s•.
3.Desizn aT-beam for a floor system for which bw = 300
mm and d = 550 mm. The beams are 4.8 m long and
spaced at 3 m o.c. The slab thickness is 100 mm. Mv =
400 kN-m (including its own weight), ML = SOO kN-m.
fc = 28 MPa,fy = 414 MPa.
4.Determine the ultimate moment capacity of a
reinforced concrete: T-beam with the following
properties: Flange width b = 1500 mm, web width bw
= 250 mm, effective depth d = 600 mm, steel area As
= 3750 mm2, slab thickness t = 100 mm. Assume [c =
20.7 MPa and fy = 345 MPa.
5.Determine the permissible moment capacity of the T -
beam shown in Figure 3.4. Assume fc = 20.7 MPa and
fy = 345 MPa.

6.A reinforced concrete T~beam has an effective flange

width of 750 mm with a slab thickness of 100 nun. The
effective depth_is 750 nun and the width of web is 350
mm. The beam is reiriforced with 6325 mm2 of steel-
with fy =: 345 MPa: Assuming fc = 20.7 Mpa, calcUlate
the ultimate moment capacity.
7.Compute the permissible ultimate moment capacity for
the T-beam shown in Figure3.5.Assumefy = 345 MPa
andfc =20.7 MPa.
