Assignment Overview: You will explore and analyze a federally

designated Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) or a Medically
Underserved Area/Population (MUA/P) and evaluate the effectiveness of
programs or projects designed to address healthcare needs in that area or
among that population. You will need to address each requirement
presented below in your report.
Assignment Requirements:
1. Identification of Programs or Projects:

 Identify any existing programs or projects designed to improve or

enhance the healthcare needs of the designated area or population.
 Explain how these programs or projects aim to address these needs
effectively.

2. Description of the Area/Population:

 Provide a detailed description of the designated area or population,

including demographic information, prevalent health conditions, and
existing service deficiencies.

3. Assessment of Significant Needs:

 Assess and prioritize the most significant healthcare needs within the
selected area or population.
 Explain why these needs are considered the most significant, drawing
upon relevant data and research.

4. Visual Representation (Self-Created):

  Minimum of 1 self-created visualization.
 Include a visual representation of your choice (e.g., graph,
infographic, chart) to supplement the report's findings.
 Ensure that the visual aids in better understanding the healthcare
situation in the chosen area or population.

5. Data Sources:

 Use reliable data sources to support your analysis. Explore

government health databases, local health department reports, and
other reputable sources for information about the designated area or
population.

6. Program Success Metrics:

 Identify and discuss specific metrics or indicators used to measure

the success or effectiveness of the programs or projects in question.
 This could include improvements in health outcomes, access to care,
patient satisfaction, or other relevant factors.

7. Barriers and Challenges:

 Examine and discuss any barriers or challenges that the programs or

projects face in achieving their objectives.
 This could include funding limitations, workforce shortages,
infrastructure issues, or socio-economic factors affecting the area or
population.

8. Community Engagement:

 Consider the extent to which community engagement and

participation are integrated into the programs or projects.

Report Length: Your report should be between ten (10) to twelve (12)
pages in length, excluding the title page, reference pages, and any
included illustrations.
Formatting: Follow APA 7th Edition Formatting guidelines. Ensure that
your report is in Word document format, and include both a title page and
reference page(s).
References: Provide a minimum of five (5) scholarly and/or credible
references. These references should primarily be from the last five years,
unless specific seminal works or course content references are used.
Support the information throughout the report with evidence.
