INSTRUCTIONS
This set of phonics books is designed to give your students practice with CVC
words and words with blends. The activities will help to improve your students’
letter/sound correspondence skills, encoding and decoding skills, reading
fluency and comprehension, and grammar skills.

Here are some important notes and tips:

• There is a suggested scope on page 10 of this download. If these books
are your students first introduction to CVC words, it is best to save the
advanced books for later.
• It is suggested to read the in-depth instructions on the next few pages.
There are detailed explanations describing how to have your students
effectively complete each page.
• There is a separate book included for nasalised a (–am and –an). The
/ă/ sound slightly changes due to the nasalised /m/ and /n/ sounds that
follow it. Nasal letters cause allophonic variations to the short a sound
/ă/ when they are positioned after it. It’s important to teach this
concept explicitly so that students do not misread and misspell
associated words.
HOW TO PREP
These phonics books
are designed to be
printed double-
