INTRODUCTION

In recent years, the role of art in education has sparked considerable debate. Some believe
that art should be taught in schools, I agree with this statement and believe that it should
be a compulsory subject. Art classes are essential for providing a balance to the more
technical and academic subjects. Not only do they foster creativity and self-expression,
but they also help students develop valuable traits such as patience and perseverance. In
this essay, I will explain my point of view
BODY
Art classes can provide a balance to the more technical and academic subjects in the
curriculum. Art classes provide a break from the pressure of academics. It offer a hands-
on, experimental approach to learning, which can be a refreshing change from sitting
behind a desk and crunching numbers or writing essays. This can help students stay
physically and mentally healthy while still learning valuable skills.
Another reason why art should be a compulsory subject in schools is that it fosters
creativity and self-expression. Through art classes, students have the opportunity to use
their imagination and express themselves in a unique and personal way. Whether it's
through painting, drawing, or music, art allows students to communicate their thoughts,
feelings, and ideas in a creative and meaningful way. This can help students develop their
own voice and learn to express themselves effectively and confidently.
Developing patience and perseverance is another important benefit of art education.
Learning how to play an instrument, draw or paint a picture, or perform a dance often
requires a lot of practice and persistence. Students who engage in art classes learn to take
risks, make mistakes, and keep trying until they achieve their goals. This can help them
develop resilience and persistence in other areas of their lives, such as academics and
work, and prepare them to face challenges with confidence and determination.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, art classes play a crucial role in providing a well-rounded education by
fostering creativity, self-expression, and the development of important personal qualities
such as patience and perseverance. By balancing technical subjects with artistic pursuits,
students are not only able to explore their individuality but also acquire valuable life
skills that contribute to their overall growth and success. Therefore, art should be an
integral part of the school curriculum, helping students to thrive both academically and
personally.
