Letter of Motivation for Admission in
Friedrich Schiller University Jena- Abbe
School of Photonics
Introduction
My name is Bakhtawar Rehman and I am from Pakistan. I am currently enrolled in last semester of
Biomedical Engineering Technology in Foundation University Islamabad. I have completed my higher
secondary education from Pakistan. I am writing this letter of motivation to apply for admission in MSc
Photonics in Abbe school of photonics. My education background, skill set and capabilities make me
eligible for admission in this field of study.
Journey as a Biomedical Engineering Technologist
I did my School in 2017 with A+ grade. From the very beginning, I wanted to pursue my carrier in a
medical related field. Later in 2019, I completed my higher secondary education from Punjab Group of
Colleges with A grade. Finally in 2020, I got admission in my dream degree, that was Biomedical
Engineering Technology in a well reputed university in Pakistan. After completing 3 years, I started
internship in “Armed Forces Institute of Cardiology and National Institute of Heart Diseases” to further
polish my skills. It was a supervised Industrial Training with a maximum exposure to all the medical
devices. Along with soft skills like AutoCAD, MATLAB, Python, MS word, MS excel, PowerPoint, Data
Analysis I acquired more experience in equipment maintenance, repair, PPM and detecting faults. I had a
distinction in giving Presentations of my Data Analytic Projects. My supervisors have always praised me
for this. I am an excellent communicator, collaborator and leader. I have good project management and
organization skills.
Enlightening the Path to MSc Photonics from Biomedical Engineering-An Innovating Idea
I want to opt Masters in Photonics in Friedrich Schiller University because this greatly interlines with
various disciplines in biomedical engineering technology. Photonics is the study of generating, detecting
and manipulating photons. It covers a wide range of technologies like optical cables, medical imaging
techniques like MRIs and CT scans and many more emerging areas. Delving into photonics can give me
an opportunity to apply principles of photonics to solve the challenges in biomedical research. It will
help me to develop advanced technologies in medical imaging techniques, Biosensors and bio-optics.
Biomedical and Photonics will help me to choose a carrier in a research institution. Secondly, my
education background in mathematics, physics and English make me a perfect candidate. I also fulfill the
requirements bachelor’s degree requirements and English proficiency.

Furthermore, Friedrich Schiller University is an interesting place for me to study because it supports the
freedom of science. This university also works with non-university research institutions, business
communities and cultural institutions. It greatly paves the way for job opportunities for all the students.
This university also offers all the international candidates with individual tutors, German language course
for one semester for the ease of students. The most attractive thing for me is that it also has a facility of
accommodation at the student residences. I am also excited for the joint activities like festivals and
concerts.
My decision of choosing MSc in photonics at a prestigious institute in Germany is admirable and dream
come true. I want to opt Photonics because it greatly aligns with my future goals. My skills, education
background and requirements are also perfectly matched with university requirements. I hope that
university faculty will provide me a new path to explore more in this field.
