Use the functions 𝑓(𝑥) = 12 + 5√𝑥 to answer the following questions.
(a) For what values of 𝑥 is 𝑦 = 4?
(b) Find the value of 𝑦 when 𝑥 is 36.
(c) What values of x give y a value of 11? Interpret 𝑓(𝑥) = 10.

Q2 [CLO2] (09 marks= 3+4+2): The number of millions of U.S. cellular


telephone subscribers can be described by

𝒇(𝒙) = −𝟕 𝒙𝟐 + 𝟐𝒙 + 𝟔
where 𝒙 is the number of years past 1990.

a) Use a table that shows a complete graph


of this model by using
𝒙 = −𝟐, −𝟏, 𝟎, 𝟏, 𝟏. 𝟓, 𝟐. 𝟓, 𝟑, 𝟒.
b) Graph this equation by using table values of 𝒙 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝒚.

c) Check whether the function is one-one?
