Rules for completing sentence:

1. (i) Too………..to থাকেল-

Structure: Subject+verb+too+adjective+to+বােক র সােথ িমল রেখ এক ট


verb িলখেত হেব( verb এর base form হেব)+extension+.

Example: He is too weak to………………………………….

Ans: He is too weak to walk.

The boy looked too………….

Ans: The boy looked too tired to sit for study.

(ii)Structure: Subject+verb+too+adjective+for+object+to+ বােক র


সােথ অথ িমল রেখ এক ট verb িলখেত হেব(verb এর base form হেব)+.

Example: The luggage is too heavy.................................................

Ans: The luggage is too heavy for me to carry.

2. So.............that থাকেল-

Structure: Subject+verb+so+adjective/adverb+that+subject
(he/she/it/they/we)+can not (present tense)/ could not (past tense)+verb in
base form+বােক র সােথ িমল রেখ অথপূণ verb+.

Example: Sima was so weak that………………..

Ans: Sima was so weak that she could not walk.

3. So that/ in order that থাকেল-

Structure: Subject+verb+…….+so that/in order


that+subject(he/she/it/we/they)+can/may(present),could/might(past)
+verb in base form+extension+.

Example: He worked hard so that………………………………………….


Ans: He worked hard so that he could/might success in life.

4. Provided/provided that/providing that থাকেল এ েলা ারা if (যিদ)/শত


কাশ করেব । স ে থম বাক টর কাজ স াদন করেত বা শষ করেত
কী শত হেত পাের তা িনেজ বািনেয় িলখেত হেব। যমনঃ

The plane will take off in time provided………………………………………….

Ans: The plane will take off in time provided the weather is good.

[ ব াখ াঃ এখােন থম অংেশ উেড়াজাহাজ উ য়েনর শত হেলা আবহাওয়া ভােলা থাকা। ]

I will go with him provided that……………………………………………………….

Ans: I will go with him provided that he bears all my expenses.

5. Lest অথ -“পােছ ভয় হয় য” এবং এ ট না বাধক অথ বহন কের। এক ট কাজ


না করেল তার ফলাফল কী হেত পাের তা িনেদশ করার ে Lest ব বহার করা
হয়। Lest থাকেল-

Structure:
(Subject+verb)/verb+adjective/adverb+lest+subject+should/might+v
erb in base form+extension+.

Example: He walked fast lest…………………………………………………………..

Ans: He walked fast lest he might miss the train.

Read attentively lest…………………………………………………………………………..

Ans: Read attentively lest you should fail in the exam.

6. Unless অথ যিদ না। এ ট if not এর পিরপূরক/সমাথক। Unless থাকেল-

Structure: Unless+subject+verb+adjective/adverb+comma( , )+ি তীয়


অংেশ থম অংেশর subject অনুযায়ী subject+shall/will( থম অংশ past
tense এ থাকেল could/would/might বসেব)+verb in base
form+extension+.
Example: Unless you work hard,…………………………………………………………………………

Ans: Unless you work hard, you can not success in life.

7. Though/Although(যিদও) থাকেল- (পেরর বাক েলা শতবাচক হেব)

Structure: Though/Although+subject+verb in present form/past


form+adjective/adverb+comma ( , )+subject+verb in present
form/past form+extension+.

Example: Though/Although he is poor…………………………………………………………………

Ans: Though/Although he is poor, he is large hearted.

8. In spite of/ despite অথ সে ও।এ েলা থাকেল-

Structure: In spite of/ despite+ subject এর possessive form( he>his,


she>her, they>their, we>our, you>your)+being/having+ comma ( ,
)+subject+verb (present/past form)+extension.

Example: Despite his having vast properties……………………………………………………

Ans: Despite his having vast properties, he never helped the poor.

9. As if/ as though থাকেল-

(i) Structure: Subject+verb in present form(present indefinite


tense)+extension+as if/ as though+subject+verb in past
form+extension+.

Example: He behaves as if………………………………………………………………..

Ans: He behaves as if he knew everything.

(ii)Structure: Subject+verb in past form(past indefinite)+extension+as


if/as though+subject+had+verb in past participle form+extension.

Example: He behaved as though……….

Ans: He behaved as though he had known everything.


10. (i) It is time/It is high time+to/for+……….থাকেল-

Structure: It is time/high time+to+verb in base form+extension+.


( কােনা কাজ করার স ঠক সময় হেয়েছ এমন বুঝােত হেব)

Example: It is time to……………………………………………………………

Ans: It is time to complete the task.

(ii) Structure: It is time/high time+for+object+to+অথপূণ verb+.

Example: It is time for him…………………………………………………….

Ans: It is time for him to stop smoking.

(iii) It is time/high time+………..( কােনা কােজর সময় শষ হেয় গেছ


বাঝায়) থাকেল-

Structure: It is time/high time+subject+verb in past form+extension+.

Example: It is high time………………………………………………………

Ans: It is high time we went on a picnic.

11.If যু শতবাচক বাক থাকেল-

(i) Structure: If+subject+verb in present form+extension+comma ( ,


)+subject+can/may/shall/will+verb in base form +extension+.

Example: If you work hard……………………………………………………

Ans: If you work hard, you can /will success in life.

(ii) Structure: If+subject+verb in past form(past


indefinite)+extension+comma ( , )+subject
(he/she/we/they/it/you)+would/could/might+verb in base
form+extension+.

Example: If you worked hard,………………………………………………….


Ans: If you worked hard, you could success in life.

(iii) Structure: If+subject+had+verb in past participle(past perfect


tense)+extension+comma( ,
)+subject+would/could/might+have+verb in past participle
form+extension+.

Example: If I had gone Dhaka,………………………………………….

Ans: If I had gone to Dhaka, I would have met him.

12. Would you mind, can not help, could not help, with a view to, look
forward to ইত ািদ থাকেল এ েলার পের য verb িলখা হেব তার base form
এর সােথ ing বেস। যমনঃ

Example: He went to Dhaka with a view to……………………………………………………………….

Ans: He went to Dhaka with a view to receiving me at airport.

Would you mind ……………………………………….

Ans: Would you mind taking a glass of water?

13. Since/as/when বােক র থেম থাকেল-

(i) Structure: Since/As/When+Present indefinite+present indefinite+.

Example: When I go to school, ………………………………………..

Ans: When I go to school, I find my book on the table.

(ii) Structure: Since/As/When+Past indefinite+past indefinite+.

Example: Since I missed the train,…………….

Ans: Since I missed the train, I could not go to school.

14. Since বােক র মেধ থাকেল-

(i) বােক র থম অংশ Present indefinite/perfect tense+since+বােক র


ি তীয় অংশ past indefinite tense+.
Example: He has done the work since………………………….

Ans: He has done the work since he came back from Dhaka.

(ii) বােক র থম অংশ past indefinite tense+since+বােক র ি তীয় অংশ


past perfect tense+.

Example: He worked in a company since……………………

Ans: He worked in a company since he had joined the company in june.
