SECTION 11
Toxicological Information
Likely Routes of Exposure: Skin or eye contact and inhalation

Symptoms: High concentrations of vapors may irritate nose and throat and
cause symptoms of intoxication such as dizziness, nausea,
headache or indigestion. Direct spray or vapors will irritate and
may harm eyes; Product may cause irritation to the skin.
Ingestion causes irritation (nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea).

Delayed and Immediate Effects: Deliberate inhalation of toluene at high concentrations (e.g., glue
(TOLUENE) sniffing and solvent abuse) has been associated with
adverse effects on the liver, kidney and nervous system and can
cause CNS depression, cardiac arrhythmias and death. Case
studies of persons abusing toluene suggest isolated incidences
of adverse effects on the fetus including birth defects.

Chronic Effects: Studies of workers indicate long-term exposure may be related

(TOLUENE) to impaired color vision and hearing. Some studies of workers
suggest long-term exposure may be related to neurobehavioral
and cognitive changes. Some of these effects have been
observed in laboratory animals following repeated exposure to
high levels of toluene. Several studies of workers suggest long-

5|Page
term exposure may be related to small increases in spontaneous
abortions and changes in some gonadotropic hormones.
However, the weight of evidence does not indicate toluene is a
reproductive hazard to humans. Studies in laboratory animals
indicate some changes in reproductive organs following high
levels of exposure, but no significant effects on mating
performance or reproduction were observed. Case studies of
persons abusing toluene suggest isolated incidences of adverse
effects on the fetus including birth defects. Findings in laboratory
animals were largely negative. Positive findings include small
increases in minor skeletal and visceral malformations and
developmental delays following very high levels of maternal
exposure. Studies of workers indicate
long-term exposure may be related to effects on the liver, kidney
and blood, but these appear to be limited to changes
in serum enzymes and decreased leukocyte counts. Studies in
laboratory animals indicate some evidence of adverse effects on
the liver, kidney, thyroid, and pituitary gland following very high
levels of exposure. The relevance of these findings to humans is
not clear at this time.

NTP Carcinogen: No.

IARC Carcinogen: Toluene Group 3
OSHA Carcinogen: No.

SECTION 12
Ecological Information

Ecotoxicity: Toluene is toxic to aquatic organisms and may cause long-term adverse
effects in the aquatic environment. If Heptane is applied to leaves, this
product may kill grasses and small plants by interfering with transpiration
and respiration. This product is not toxic to fish but my coat gill structures
resulting in suffocation if spilled in shallow, running water. Product may
be moderately toxic to amphibians by preventing dermal respiration. This
product may cause gastrointestinal distress to birds and mammals
through ingestion during pelage grooming.

Persistence and Toluene is rapidly biodegradable in aerobic conditions.

Degradability:

Bioaccumulation Potential: Not Available.

Mobility in Soil: Based on similar materials, this product will have a significant tendency
to partition to air. Hydrocarbons from this product which do partition to
air are expected to rapidly photodegrade.

6|Page
Other Adverse Effects: Degradation of this product in water occurs primarily by microbial action.
Distribution: Principally to air.
.

SECTION 13
Disposal Considerations

Storage and Disposal Keep out of reach of children. Do not store near heat, sparks or open
flame. Do not puncture or incinerate container. Do not store in direct
sunlight. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible
materials. Recovered liquids may be sent to an EPA permitted re-claimer
or incineration facility. Contaminated material must be disposed of in a
permitted waste management facility. Consult Federal, state, or local
disposal authorities for approved procedures.

Waste Disposal Method: Whatever cannot be saved for recovery or recycling should be handled as
hazardous waste and sent to a RCRA approved incinerator or disposed in a
RCRA approved waste facility. Processing, use or contamination of this
product may change the waste management options. State and local
disposal regulations may differ from federal disposal regulations. Dispose of
container and unused contents in accordance with federal, state and local
requirements.

SECTION 14
