2. Background, Major, and Graduate Information:


I have a strong background in Computer Science and Engineering, having completed my
bachelor’s degree from Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET),
Bangladesh. My major was in Computer Science and my specialty lies in the field of
machine learning where I am actively working. Currently, I am pursuing a master’s
degree in Computer Science in the Department of Information and Computer Science
(ICS) at KFUPM to further deepen my expertise in this field.

3. Understanding of Statistics:
From what I understand, statistics is the branch of mathematics that deals with the
collection, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data. It helps in making decisions
and drawing conclusion based on numerical and categorical data. In essence, statistics
involves methods for organizing and summarizing data to make sense of patterns, trends,
and relationships within data sets, which is crucial in fields like machine learning,
economics.

4. Relevance of the Course to My Current Job:


The course on statistics in fundamental to improving my performance in the field of
Machine learning. Statistics helps in understanding data distribution, identifying patterns,
and making informed decisions based on data. Concepts like probability, data
classification and summarization, statistical sampling, hypothesis testing, regression
analysis, analysis of variance, are essential for building machine learning models. It also
aids in evaluating model performance, selecting features, and minimizing errors. In short,
mastering statistics strengthens the ability to create robust, accurate models and enhances
problem-solving in real world machine learning tasks.
