1. Find, by long division and synthetic division respectively, the quotient and remainder of
3x3 – 5x + 6 when it is divided by x –2.
2. Use synthetic division to carry out the division (–6x4 –7x2 + 8x + 9) ÷ (2x–1).
3. Given that f(x) = x4 + 3x3 + 8x2 – kx + 11 is divisible by x + 3, find the value of k.
4. Given that f(x) = x4 – ax2 – bx +2 is divisible by (x +1)(x+2) find the values of a and b.
5. Given that a polynomial f(x) has remainder 1, 2, 3 when divided by (x–1), (x–2), (x–3) respectively.
Find the remainder of f(x) when it is divided by (x–1) (x–2) (x–3).
