.
A compound sentence consists of at
least two independent clauses joined by
a coordinating conjunction or a

as a complete sentence.

Example: "I wanted to go for a walk, but

it started to rain."

Express Cause and Effect:

For: Presents a reason or explanation.

been working all day."

So: Indicates a result or consequence.

Example: "He studied diligently, so he

passed the exam."

3. Teacher Asks Guiding Questions to

Reinforce Understanding:

 What is the purpose of using

coordinating conjunctions?

Coordinating conjunctions
connect words, phrases, or
independent clauses of equal
importance, creating a
relationship between them.
They help in forming compound
sentences, allowing writers to
combine related ideas and
convey complex thoughts
effectively.

 How do these words affect the

meaning of the sentence?

Coordinating conjunctions
clarify the relationship between
connected clauses, indicating
how ideas are related.

By selecting appropriate
coordinating conjunctions,
writers can precisely convey the
intended relationship between
ideas, enhancing the clarity and
coherence of their writing.

IV.GENERALIZA A compound sentence is made up of

TIONS two independent clauses joined by a
coordinating conjunction, such as so,
for, and therefore, to express a cause-
and-effect relationship. These
conjunctions help link ideas logically,
showing how one event leads to
another.

For example:

 The streets were flooded, for it

rained heavily all night.
 Ana studied diligently, so she
passed the exam with high
marks.
 Factories emit too much smoke;
therefore, air pollution has
increased.

By using compound sentences, we can

create clearer and more connected
thoughts in both speaking and writing.
This skill helps in effective
communication, allowing us to explain
reasons and results more logically in
everyday conversations, academic
discussions, and written texts.
