VERTEBRATES

The document provides an overview of vertebrates, defining them as animals with a backbone, including mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fishes. It describes the characteristics of each type, highlighting features such as warm-bloodedness in mammals, cold-bloodedness in reptiles, the need for moist environments in amphibians, the ability to fly in birds, and the aquatic adaptations of fishes. The report emphasizes the structural components of vertebrates, including vertebrae, intervertebral discs, and craniums.

GROUP 1
WHAT IS A
VERTEBRADE?
an animal of a large group distinguished by the possession
of a backbone or spinal column, including mammals, birds,
reptiles, amphibians, and fishes. Vertebrades are also
animals consisting of vertebrae and intervertebral discs, and
a cranium, or skull. The vertebrae are irregular bones, and
the intervertebral discs are of fibrocartilage. The vertebral
column surrounds and protects the spinal cord, while the
cranium protects the brain.
TYPES OF VERTEBRADES
MAMMALS REPTILES
Mammals are warm - Reptiles are cold-blooded
blooded vertebrades animals that vertebrade animals that have dry
have hair, skin covered in scales. Reptiles
can breathe air and feed their babies milk
have lungs and need air to
breathe. Even if they live in water
like turtles, they have to come to
the surface to be able to breathe
TYPES OF VERTEBRADES
BIRDS AMPHIBIANS
Amphibians are
Birds have wings and most of them small vertebrade
can fly. They have light and hollow
bones and they do not have teeth,
that need to live in
instead they have a beak to moist environments
tear, bite, crush, and bite their food.
to be able to survive.
Their skin is slimy
and smooth
TYPES OF VERTEBRADES
FISHES
Fish are vertebrades that are
designed to live in water and they
balance not with hands or feet but
with their fins. Fish does not breathe
through lungs but through their gills
to extract oxygen from water.
