Installation of VMware Workstation and Kali

Step 1: Set up VMware Workstation:

● Google Search : “Download Vmware Workstation”


VMware Workstation 17 --->

● Once the download is complete, execute the "Vmware-workstation-full-17.0.0-


20800274.exe" file.
● Subsequently, a setup wizard for VMware Workstation Pro will emerge. Select
"Next" to proceed.

● Now, check the checkbox and proceed by clicking "Next" once more.
● Once more, select the checkbox and proceed by clicking "Next".

● Now, deselect both checkboxes and proceed by clicking "Next."


● Once more, select "Next."

● Proceed by clicking "Install" now.


● Subsequently, the installation process begins.

● Once the installation is complete, navigate to "License" and click on it.


● Upon selecting "License," a popup window will appear.

● Enter the following key: "JU090-6039P-08409-8J0QH-2YR7F" now.


● Subsequently, select "Enter."
● Conclude the process by clicking "Finish."
● VMware Workstation Pro has been successfully installed.

Step 2: Download and set up 7-zip:

● Access the link: https://www.7-zip.org/


● Download the 64-bit (x64) version for Windows.

● Execute the "7z2301-x64.exe" file once it has been downloaded.


● Specify the destination folder and select "Install."
● Upon installation completion, click on "Close."

Step 3: Download Kali-Linux and deploy it.

● Launch a web browser and enter the following link:


https://www.kali.org/get-kali/#kali-platforms

● Proceed by selecting "Virtual Machines."


● Download the "VMware image of Kali Linux" as indicated in the provided
screenshot.
● Extract the downloaded file "kali-linux-2023.3-vmware-amd64.7z" following the
steps outlined in the accompanying screenshot.

● Right-click on the file "kali-linux-2023.3-vmware-amd64.7z," choose 7zip, and then


Use 7 zip and use "Extract Here." command

● You will observe that the extraction process has commenced.


● Once the extraction is complete, the opened folder will display the extracted
contents.

● Open the folder and verify the presence of the ".vmx" file, as illustrated in the
screenshot. ( Identify with icon of white color )

● Launch the VMware Workstation application.

● Next, select "File."


● Then click on “Open”.

● Browse to the extracted folder, choose the ".vmx" file, and click on "Open."

● Observe the displayed interface, as indicated in the screenshot, and proceed by


selecting "Power on this virtual machine."
● Subsequently, Kali Linux will commence its startup process.

● Then type username as “kali” and password as “kali”.


● Then you will be logged in.
