Gauge:
26 sts x 34 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Vertical Pattern with the larger needles, blocked.
22 sts x 30 rows = 4" (10 cm) in the Diagonal Pattern with the larger needles, blocked.
To save time, take time to check gauge.

Note: Instructions are for the smallest size, with changes for other sizes in parentheses as necessary.

BO = Bind off

Garter Stitch:
Row 1 (RS): Knit across.
Pattern Row: As Row 1.

Vertical Pattern (multiple of 6 sts plus 1 st):
Row 1 (RS): K1, *[YO, K1, K3tog, K1, YO, K1]; repeat from the * across.
Row 2: Purl across.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for the pattern.
Cable Panel (over 8 sts):
Rows 1 and 3 (RS): P1, K6, P1.
Row 2 and all WS rows: K1, P6, K1.
Row 5: P1, slip the next 3 sts onto CN and hold in front, K3, K3 from the CN, P1.
Row 6: As Row 2.
Repeat Rows 1-6 for the pattern.
Diagonal Pattern (multiple of 4 sts):
Row 1 (RS): YO, SSK, *[K2, YO, SSK]; repeat from the * across, ending with K2.
Row 2 and all WS rows: Purl across.
Row 3: K1, YO, *[SSK, K2, YO]; repeat from the * across, ending with SSK, K1.
Row 5: K2, *[YO, SSK, K2]; repeat from the * across, ending with YO, SSK.
Row 7: K2, *[K1, YO, SSK, K1]; repeat from the * across, ending with K2.
Row 8: As Row 2.
Repeat Rows 1-8 for the pattern.
Back:
With the smaller needles, CO 111 (121, 131, 141, 155) sts.
Begin Garter St, and work even until the piece measures approx. 1" from the beginning.
Set Up Patterns:
Change to the larger needles, work Row 1 of the Vertical Pattern across the first 55 (61, 67, 73, 79) sts, PM,
work Row 1 of the Cable Panel over the next 8 sts, PM, work Row 1 of the Diagonal Pattern across to end the
row.
Work even in the patterns as established until the piece measures approx. 24" from the beginning, ending
after WS row.
Shape Neck:
Work across the first 36 (42, 48, 54, 60) sts, join a 2nd ball of yarn and BO the next 43 sts, work across to end
the row.
Work both sides at once with separate balls of yarn and decrease 1 st each neck edge every row once.
Continue even until the piece measures approx. 25" from the beginning, ending after WS row.
BO.
Front:
Same as the back until the piece measures approx. 21" from the beginning, ending after WS row.
Shape Neck:
Work across the first 45 (51, 57, 63, 69) sts, join a 2nd ball of yarn and BO the middle 26 sts, work across to
and the row.
BO 10 sts at the neck edge on next row (on the vertical section), then BO 7 sts at the neck edge next row (on
the diagonal section).
Work both sides at once with separate balls of yarn and decrease 1 st each neck edge every row once.
Continue even until the piece measures approx. 25" from the beginning.
BO.
Sleeves:
With the smaller needles, CO 55 (55, 55, 61, 61) sts.
Begin Garter St, and work even until the piece measures approx. 1" from the beginning.
Change to the larger needles, begin the Vertical Pattern, and increase 1 st each side every other row 6 (8, 15,

11, 18) times, then every 4 rows 18 (16, 12, 13, 9) times, working new sts into the pattern as they accumu-
late—103 (103, 109, 109, 115) sts.
Continue even until the piece measures approx. 15 (14 ½, 14, 13 ½, 13)" from the beginning, ending after WS
row.
BO.
Finishing:
Sew the shoulder seams.
PMs 8½” (8½, 9, 9, 9½)" down from the shoulders.
Set in the sleeves between the markers.
Neckband:
With the RS facing and the circular needle, pick up and knit 108 sts evenly along the neckline.
Knit 1 row, purl 1 row, knit 1 row to BO.
Sew the sleeve and side seams.
