The ASNT 9712 Level III Certification Program

offers advanced certification for NDT
professionals, meeting ISO 9712, ANSI/ASNT
9712, ANSI/ASNT CP-189 standards and
Recommended Practice SNT-TC-1A. This
program includes multiple exams, including
computer-based and hands-on practical
exams, to validate your skills and knowledge.

As a Level III, you’ll be qualified to take on

responsibilities as an NDT manager !
writing inspection procedures, managing
operations, and training teams, with the
potential for a more stable schedule and
competitive salary. This certification is ideal
for those aiming to work as contractors
internationally or seeking advanced roles that

On this page, you’ll find details about the full
application process for ASNT 9712 Level III cer-
tification. Here are some key points to under-
stand before you begin.

All applications are online

All applications are submitted, reviewed, and approved
through MyCert, a secure online platform that’s
integrated with your MyASNT account. You can access
both portals with the same login information.

Gather documentation in advance

During the application process in MyCert, you’ll be
asked to list work experience, education, and training
that qualify you for the 9712 Level III designation. You’ll
also be asked to upload documentation including
school transcripts, signed employment records, a
vision form, and a headshot.

Pay all fees at time of application

You can pay with a credit card, by check, or by wire
transfer. Payment must be received in full before your
application can be reviewed and processed.

To achieve 9712 Level III certification, initial

applicants must apply for and pass at least one
method exam and one technique exam
covering a single technique or all techniques.
Exams for each method include the Basic,
Basic Supplemental, Method, Procedure
Preparation, and at least one practical exam
covering a single technique or all practical
exams for all techniques.

Experience Documentation

Acceptable documentation, signed by the

employer, may include:

inspection logbooks

inspection reports

employer or third-party certificates or

certification records

human resources records

signed statement from your employer or

responsible Level III

signed statement from an ASNT NDT,

ACCP, or 9712 Level III professional

The documentation you provide must state:

OR Level II job duties

AND number of days working at Level II or

comparable responsibilities

If you are self-employed:

Provide signed statements from at least

two customers.
