Penalties imposed —>credited to Env. Protection Fund estb. under the Env. (Protection) Act, 1986

Biodegradable Plastics:
Materials capable of degradation by biological processes
Microplastics defined as:
1) any solid plastic particle insoluble in water
2) Dimensions b/w 1 micron - 1,000 microns (1 micron is one-thousandth of a millimetre)
No rules of chemical tests that can establish the absence of microplastics
Difference b/w compostable plastics & biodegradable plastics?
Compostable: product that can disintegrate into non-toxic natural elements
