1. A RULER ONCE CAME TO JESUS BY NIGHT

1. A ruler once came to Jesus by night,

To ask Him the way of salvation and light;
The Master made answer in words true and plain,
“Ye must be born again!”
“Ye must be born again!”
“Ye must be born again!”
“I verily, verily say unto thee,
Ye must be born again!”

2. Ye children of men, attend to the word

So solemnly uttered by Jesus, the Lord,
And let not this message to you be in vain,
“Ye must be born again.”

3. Oh, ye who would enter that glorious rest,

And sing with the ransomed the song of the blest;
The life everlasting if ye would obtain,
“Ye must be born again.”
2. A DEBTOR TO MERCY ALONE

1. A debtor to mercy alone,

of covenant mercy I sing;
nor fear, with Your righteousness on,
my person and off'ring to bring.
The terrors of law and of God
with me can have nothing to do;
my Savior's obedience and blood
hide all my transgressions from view.

2. The work which His goodness began,

the arm of His strength will complete;
His promise is yea and amen,
and never was forfeited yet.
Things future, nor things that are now,
nor all things below or above,
can make Him His purpose forgo,
or sever my soul from His love.

3. My name from the palms of His hands

eternity will not erase;
impressed on His heart it remains,
in marks of indelible grace.
Yes, I to the end shall endure,
as sure as the earnest is giv'n;
more happy, but not more secure,
the glorified spirits in heav'n.
3. A FEW MORE YEARS SHALL ROLL

1. A few more years shall roll,

A few more seasons come,
And we shall be with those that rest
Asleep within the tomb:
Then, O my Lord, prepare
My soul for that great day;
O wash me in Thy precious Blood,
And take my sins away.

2. A few more suns shall set

O'er these dark hills of time,
And we shall be where suns are not,
A far serener clime:
Then, O my Lord, prepare
My soul for that blest day;
O wash me in Thy precious Blood,
And take my sins away.

3. A few more storms shall beat

On this wild rocky shore,
And we shall be where tempests cease,
And surges swell no more:
Then, O my Lord, prepare
My soul for that calm day;
O wash me in Thy precious Blood,
And take my sins away.
4. A few more struggles here,
A few more partings o'er,
A few more toils, a few more tears,
And we shall weep no more:
Then, O my Lord, prepare
My soul for that bright day;
O wash me in Thy precious Blood,
And take my sins away.

5. 'Tis but a little while

And He shall come again,
Who died that we might live, Who lives
That we with Him may reign:
Then, O my Lord, prepare
My soul for that glad day;
O wash me in Thy precious blood,
And take my sins away
4. A WONDERFUL SAVIOUR IS JESUS
1. A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,
a wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
where rivers of pleasure I see.

Refrain:
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
that shadows a dry thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love
and covers me there with His hand,
and covers me there with His hand.

2. A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,

He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth me up, and I shall not be moved;
He giveth me strength as my day. [Refrain]

3. With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,

and filled with His fullness divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh, glory to God
for such a Redeemer as mine! [Refrain]

4. When clothed in His brightness, transported I rise

to meet Him clouds of the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love
I'll shout with the millions on high. [Refrain]
5. ABIDE WITH ME; FAST FALLS THE EVEN TIDE
1. Abide with me: fast falls the eventide;
the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, O abide with me.

2. Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day;

earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away.
Change and decay in all around I see.
O Lord who changes not, abide with me.

3. I need your presence every passing hour.

What but your grace can foil the tempter's power?
Who like yourself my guide and strength can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, O abide with me.

4. I fear no foe with you at hand to bless,

though ills have weight, and tears their bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, your victory?
I triumph still, if you abide with me.

5. Hold now your Word before my closing eyes.

Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks and earth's vain shadows flee;
in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.
6. ABIDE WITH US IN THY GRACE

1. Abide among us with Thy grace,

Lord Jesus, evermore,
Nor let us e'er to sin give place,
Nor grieve Him we adore.

2. Abide among us with Thy word,

Redeemer, whom we love,
Thy help and mercy here afford,
And life with Thee above.

3. Abide among us with Thy ray,

O Light that lighten'st all,
And let Thy truth preserve our way,
Nor suffer us to fall.

4. Abide with us to bless us still,

O bounteous Lord of peace;
With grace and power our souls fulfill,
Our faith and love increase.

5. Abide among us as our shield,

O Captain of Thy host;
That to the world we may not yield,
Nor e'er forsake our post.

6. Abide with us in faithful love,

Our God and Saviour be,
Thy help at need, oh, let us prove,
And keep us true to Thee.
7. ACCORDING TO THY GRACIOUS WORD

1. According to thy gracious word

in meek humility,
this will I do, my dying Lord,
I will remember thee.

2. Thy body, broken for my sake,

my bread from heaven shall be;
thy cup of blessing I will take,
and thus remember thee.

3. Can I Gethsemane forget

or there thy conflict see,
thine agony and bloody sweat,
and not remember thee?

4. When to the cross I tum mine eyes,

and rest on Calvary,
O Lamb of God, my sacrifice,
I must remember thee:

5. Remember thee, and all thy pains,

and all thy love to me;
yea, while a breath, a pulse remains,
will I remember thee.

6. And when these failing lips grow dumb,

and mind and memory flee,
when thou shalt in thy kingdom come,
then, Lord, remember me.
8. AH! THEY'VE SAILED TO OTHER SIDE

1. Jesus, Savior, pilot me

Over life’s tempestuous sea;
Unknown waves before me roll,
Hiding rock and treach’rous shoal;
Chart and compass come from Thee;
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

2. As a mother stills her child,

Thou canst hush the ocean wild;
Boist’rous waves obey Thy will
When Thou say’st to them, “Be still.”
Wondrous Sov’reign of the sea,
Jesus, Savior, pilot me.

3. Though death’s valley I may pass,

Still Thy grace will fear surpass;
In Thy presence I will rest,
And, while leaning on Thy breast,
I will hear Thee say to me,
“Fear not, I will pilot thee.”
9. ALAS! AND DID MY SAVIOUR BLEED?

1. Alas! and did my Savior bleed,

and did my Sovereign die!
Would he devote that sacred head
for sinners such as I?

2. Was it for crimes that I have done,

he groaned upon the tree?
Amazing pity! Grace unknown!
And love beyond degree!

3. Well might the sun in darkness hide,

and shut its glories in,
when God, the mighty maker, died
for his own creature's sin.

4. Thus might I hide my blushing face

while his dear cross appears;
dissolve my heart in thankfulness,
and melt mine eyes to tears.

5. But drops of tears can ne'er repay

the debt of love I owe.
Here, Lord, I give myself away;
'tis all that I can do.
10. ALL THEY WHO PUT THEIR TRUST IN GOD

1. All they who put their trust in God

Can never be removed;
They stand secure like Zion’s mount,
By many ages proved.

Refrain
Like the mount of God,
Like the mount of God;
They stand secure like Zion’s mount,
By many ages proved.
They can never be removed, removed;
They stand secure like Zion’s mount,
They can never be removed.

2. As round about Jerusalem

The rugged mountains lie,
So round about His holy saints
Our God is ever nigh.

3. Tho’ fierce the storm in fury beat

And awful thunders roar,
The children of the mighty God
Are safe forevermore.

4. Thus overshadowed by His love,

Where harm can ne’er betide,
Within this refuge safe and sure
I ever would abide.
