1 PRELIMINARY INFORMATION
This manual describes the unpacking operations of the equipment in its most complete version.
This equipment has been manufactured and checked in factory by following production and testing methods
which are in compliance with the most recent International Standards and with the Medical Devices Directive
93/42 EC and its revised versions.
During the testing, a Test Report including the following information:
Accuracy test of radiological data (kV - mA - ms)
Compliance test of light field- x-ray field
Electrical accuracy test (PE resistance and leaked currents)
has been filled out with the results of the obtained measures.
In order to ensure that during the transport from factory to user the equipment has not been damaged and it is
still efficient, functional tests and checks must be performed during the installation phase of the equipment.
To check the output data, it is necessary a non-invasive tool to measure kV and exposure time. Without this
tool, it is possible to check the data directly on the equipment display.
If specific acceptance checks are required by the hospital or Government regulations, perform first all checks
described in this chapter.
2 TOOLS
The equipment unpacking requires the intervention of a skilled and qualified engineer.

Short circuits or damages to electronical systems.
Penetration of extraneous bodies inside the equipment.
► Don't let fall washers and screws or extraneous bodies inside the equipment.
► After technical interventions and before reassembling the covers clean properly inside the
equipment.
When a connector is detached from its own board, make sure that it is properly identified, otherwise, put a
temporary label with the description of the board and connector (for example “B2-CM15”).
When a mechanical or electrical component has been replaced, perform the working tests of the equipment as
described in the chapter “Installation”.
The equipment satisfies the electrical safety standards and the EMC standards and, in normal conditions, there
is no risk of failure caused by electromagnetic interferences. For this reason, when replacing a board or
working inside the equipment, at the end of the intervention, it is necessary to restore all the electrical safety
devices (ground connections, cables shields, inductances,...) eventually removed.
During normal use or service interventions, painted parts can be damaged. In order to touch up small parts, a
paint kit for touch-up is delivered with the equipment. It consists of three paint pots and three brushes.
Use only original paints included in the touch-up paint kit
In case, the touch-up paint kit is available also as spare part.

04 - Adjustments 32kW Radiographic Mobile
1 ELECTRICAL ADJUSTMENTS
The most important electrical calibrations are performed through the SERVICE MODE, in this
way it is possible to intervene on the operating parameters with the unit closed, by reducing at
minimum the risks and intervention times.
The adjustments that require the cover removal are performed in factory during the equipment
testing and they usually don't need additional adjustments.
1.2 Trimmers
Potential risks
Adjustments of the potentiometrs not necessary or wrong
► Perform any adjustment only in case of need.
► Perform any adjustment by following the instructions
2 COLLIMATOR ADJUSTMENTS
2.1 Light/x-ray field correspondence
Radiation risk for the operating personnel
Presence of operators in non-protected areas
► The operating personnel must be protected from x-rays through a protection screen or similar
protective measures during x-rays emission.
The light/x-ray correspondence is adjusted by the factory and it does not require any further adjustments.
If you would like to check the correspondence, follow these instructions.
Place a cassette 35x43 cm (14x17") at 1 meter distance far from the x-ray source, so that the x-ray beam is
perpendicular to it.
Don't use the collimator indicators as reference, but measure the real distance from the focal spot to the
cassette surface by using the collimator tape measure.
Use the collimator light to center the cassette in the x-ray field .

3 MECHANICAL ADJUSTMENTS
3.1 Arm balancing clutch
The following adjustment must be performed with column in central position and brakes ON. Put the
equipment in a flat place suitable for the purpose.
The perfect compensation of the weight with the arm in horizontal position has to be obtained.
The arm balancing spring is accessible from the bottom of the central column and its adjustment has to be
done through a fixed screw Ø 19mm. In order to do it, it is necessary to move the arm completely UP to enter
easily in the spring tie rod.
It is necessary to adjust the spring so that a necessary force of 55 ±15N is obtained.
The procedure is the following:
The clutch is necessary to compensate and make the arm spring pull constant and so the monobloc arm
balanced in the whole run.
In general, in fact, the weight compensation is performed with the arm in horizontal position and with this
clutch completely excluded. Then the clutch is closed till the tube arm keeps the position also at the run
extremities (in proximity of the UP and DOWN limit positions) and the movement results flowing and
regular.
1. By using a small screwdriver, making lever on the
edge, remove the cap that covers the clutch.

The pushbutton kV+ allows to display the following
page.
Ionizing radiations.
The operations described below require the emission of ionizing radiations.
► Take the proper measures in order to avoid exposing any part of the body to direct or indirect
radiations.
Potential risks
Possible damages or breakages to the x-ray tube.
► Do not perform x-rays with unknown filament switching ON values.
The anodic current (mA) that checks the intensity of the radiation emitted by the tube is controlled indirectly
by the filament current.
The relationship between the filament current and the anodic current is given by the tube emission curves. As
for structure reasons the tolerance on the filament current that gives a determined anodic current is large, these
curves can be used as initial settings, but they cannot be replaced by an individual tube calibration.
Purpose of the procedure “Tube Calibration” is to adjust the anodic current values to the filament current
values, so that the data in output from the tube correspond to the data set by the operator.
If during the calibration procedure, an error intervenes or the power supply is missing, the whole calibration
procedure must be repeated integrally.
The calibration of the tube is performed in factory and it is not necessary to perform it again during the unit
installation.
It is necessary to proceed with the tube calibration, when on the equipment one or more of the following
components are replaced:
• monobloc
• inverter
• board of filament power supply
Even a possible permanent dose change, caused by an intense use of the equipment, could be compensated by
performing a new calibration.
A well-performed calibration allows the equipment to work properly and it protects the tube from overloads
by making the life longer.
Ionizing radiations.
The operations described below require the emission of ionizing radiations.
► Take the proper measures in order to avoid exposing any part of the body to direct or indirect
radiations.
It is possible to perform the x-ray tube seasoning without performing its calibration. The curve of
average power is used automatically by the software and there is no danger to damage the tube
with wrong data.
The application of high loads to the tube when the anode is cold can cause a premature wear of the focal track.
As emergency or practicability reasons are often predominant in the diagnostic use, it is important , in the
daily use, in case of tube use at high power, to proceed with its heating, through some preparation exposures.
If the tube is not used for a long period, it is required to proceed with the tube seasoning.
The x-ray tube that is not used for at least 8 hours can be subject to thermal shock if high mA and high kV are
used, without performing first a heating phase of the tube.
The procedure of tube seasoning is divided into three subprograms:
- WARM (heating cycle)
- KV UP (kV raise cycle)
- SEAS (tube seasoning cycle).
It is possible to perform the three programs independently one from the other.
During the x-ray emission check the stability of the high voltage and the anodic current by using an
oscilloscope connected to the borad B11 "Inverter control".
Ch A Tp1 1V = 20kV
Ch B Tp8 1V = 50mA
GND Tp10
The management of the start and the braking of the anode is performed automatically by the equipment to
avoid
• unnecessary overheatings and possible damages to the stator
• unnecessary supply of heat inside the monobloc by limiting the thermal capacity.
