Geometry Problems

1(a) Line 𝐴𝐷𝐵 is a straight line.

Find the angle 𝐶𝐷𝐵 shown below.
Give a reason for your answer.
[2 marks]

accurately
109°

𝐴 𝐵
𝐷

The straight line has an total angle of 180° and to solve for the other side we need to subtract the total
angle of 180° by the given ( 109°)

So CDB = 180° - 109°

CDB = 71°

Answer 71°

1(b) 𝐴𝐵𝐶𝐷 are points around a circle.

Find the value of 𝑥

Give a reason for your answer.

To determine the value of x° we have to find out the total angle of this complete circle. Which [2 marks]
is 360° and to find the value of the missing value we have to add the given numbers and then subtract
them by the total of 360 °

X ° = 360° - 285°

Answer
X ° = 75°

2(a) Find angle 𝑥

Give a reason for your answer.
[2 marks]
because ABD is a straight line the angle is 180°

180°- 105°= 75°

Answer 75°

2(b) Find angle 𝑦

Give a reason for your answer.
[2 marks]
Because ACB forms a triangle, 180 - ( 35+ 75 ) = 70

Answer 70°

3(a) Find 𝑥
Give a reason for your answer.
[2 marks]
Because this is a quadrilateral. the angle will add up to 360°

65° + 85° + 115° = 265°

360 ° - 265°= 95

Answer 95°

3(b) Find 𝑦
Give a reason for your answer.
[2 marks]

Because angle x and y are on a straight line/angle, it will only add up to 180°

180°-95° = 85°

Answer 85°

[2 marks]
triangles always add up to 180 degrees and the bottom 2 angles are the same

180-70 = 110 degrees

110/2 = 55 degrees Answer 55 degrees °

4(b) 𝐸𝐷𝐹 forms an isosceles triangle shown below.

𝑦°

61°
𝐷 𝐹

Find the value of 𝑦

Give a reason for your answer.
[2 marks]
because this is an icoseles triangle , D and F are the same amount of degrees

Because D = 61, so does F

61x 2 = 122 Answer 58 Degrees °
180-122 = 58

5(a) Find 𝑥

130 + 65 + 85 = 280 [1 mark]

360 - 280 = 80 degrees

Answer 80 degrees °

5(b) Find 𝑦
24 + 80 = 104 [1 mark]

180 - 104 = 76 degrees

Answer 76 degrees °

5(c) Find 𝑧
180 - 76 = 104 [1 mark]

104 / 2 = 52 degrees

Answer 52 degrees °
