Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Lab Technician


Department / Unit: Civil Department
Reports to : Lab Technician/Chemist/Sr.Technician/Lab Supervisor

1. Purpose of Role

To assist the Laboratory Technician to conduct routine testing duties in accordance with standard
procedures as outlined in the Test Specification and the companies Quality Manual.
Note: Assistant Technicians are not authorized to carry out Accredited Tests.

2. Scope & Responsibilities

 Reporting to Lab Technician/Chemist/Sr.Technician/Lab Supervisor


 Familiarizes the company Quality Manual.
 Assists the Technician/Chemist with basic laboratory and testing duties, these duties may include:
 Recording test data (Non-accredited tests only) under the supervision of a Technician.
 Assisting in the collection, registration, storage, retrieval and disposal of samples.
 Performing sample preparation as instructed by a Technician.
 Assemble and maintain testing equipment under supervision.
 Performs general housekeeping duties in the laboratory.
 Carries out other laboratory duties (under relevant supervision) as instructed by the Laboratory
Supervisor/Sr.Technician/Sr.Metallugist/Sr.Chemist

3. Performance Objectives
 Achieving the agreed targets with the agreed timelines

4. Qualifications, Experience & Skills

 SSC/ITI/+2 with Min. 3 years related experience and/or training; or


equivalent combination of education and experience.
 Excellent Communication skills in English, Arabic will be an added
advantage.

5. WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work may require frequent weekend
and evening work.
