HOLIDAY HOMEWORK - SCIENCE BASED

These activities are designed to stimulate creativity, critical thinking, and problem-
solving skills while making learning fun and engaging during the holidays. They are
both challenging and engaging, pushing students to think critically and creatively. Some
of the activities are Complex and involve Real-World Applications
Students may use their research skills to develop the idea/prototype.
It could be group or individual task.

Classes 9-10:
1. Bridge Construction Challenge:
o Activity: Build a bridge using materials like popsicle sticks, glue, and string.
Test its strength by adding weights gradually until it collapses.
o STEAM Focus: Engineering (bridge design), Physics (load distribution), and
Mathematics (calculating weight and force).
2. Environmental Impact Project:
o Activity: Conduct a mini research project on the environmental impact of
different human activities. Present findings in a creative format like a video,
poster, or digital infographic.
o STEAM Focus: Environmental Science, Technology (research tools), and Art
(presentation design).
3. Earthquake-Resistant Tower
o Objective: Design a multi-story tower that can resist earthquakes.
o Process: Study real-life earthquake-resistant techniques and apply them to
your design using materials like cardboard and rubber bands.
o Skills: Advanced engineering, physics, and design thinking.
4. Smart Garden
o Objective: Design a garden that uses sensors to monitor and maintain plant
health.
o Process: Incorporate moisture sensors, automatic watering systems, and other
tech tools to create a self-sustaining garden.
o Skills: Electronics, programming, biology, and environmental science.
5. Prosthetic Arm with Advanced Functionality
o Objective: Design a prosthetic arm capable of performing specific tasks (e.g.,
picking up objects of different sizes).
o Challenge: Integrate concepts like grip strength, flexibility, and motor
function, possibly using basic robotics.
o Focus: Human-centered design, biomechanics.
6. Sustainable City Planning
o Objective: Design a model of a sustainable city that balances environmental,
social, and economic factors.
o Challenge: Include renewable energy sources, green spaces, and efficient
transportation systems.
o Focus: Urban planning, sustainability, interdisciplinary collaboration.
7. Rethinking Fast Paced Life and Tackling Depression
o Activity: Conduct a research project on emotional stress in teenagers. Propose
how we can collectively proceed for a better teenage phase.Present findings in
a creative format like a video, poster, or digital infographic.
o STEAM Focus: Psychology, Technology (research tools), and Art
(presentation design).
