32 If a man walks 1 km/hr faster than his usual speed then he covers a distance of 3 5
km in 15 minutes less time. Find his usual speed.

Find the value of p for which the quadratic equation (p+1) x2 – 6(p+1) x +3(p+9) =
0, has equal roots, hence find the roots of the equation.
33 The angle of elevation of an aeroplane from a point on the ground is 60° . After 5
a flight of 30 seconds the angle of elevation becomes 30°. If the aeroplane is
flying at a constant height of 3000√3 m, find the speed of the aeroplane.
34 Prove that if a line is drawn parallel to one side of a triangle intersecting the other 5
two sides in distinct points, then the other two sides are divided in the same ratio.
Using the above theorem prove that a line drawn through the point of intersection
of the diagonals and parallel to the base of the trapezium divides the non-parallel
sides in the same ratio.
35 A solid toy is in the form of a hemisphere surmounted by a right circular cone. The 5
height of the cone is 2 cm and the diameter of the base is 4 cm. Determine the
volume of the toy. If a right circular cylinder circumscribes the toy, find the
difference of the volume of the cylinder and toy. (Use π = 3.14)

A metallic cylinder has radius 3 cm and height 5 cm. To reduce its weights, a
conical hole is drilled in the cylinder. The conical hole has a radius of 1.5 cm and its
depth 8/9 cm. calculate the ratio of the volume of metal left in the cylinder to the
volume of metal taken out in conical shape

37 A Coaching institute of Mathematics conducts classes in two batches I and II
and fee for rich and poor children are different. In batch I, there are 20 poor
and 5 rich children, whereas in batch II, there are 5 poor and 25 rich children.
The total monthly collection of fees from batch I is 9000 and from batch II is
26000. Assume that each poor child pays Rs x per month and each rich child
pays Rs y per month. Based on above information, answer the following
questions.

38 TOLL TAX: In India, for every state or national highway/expressway, fee is


charged for raising the cost incurred in constructing as well as maintaining
the roads. This fee is called toll and is a kind of tax. Once the cost of highway
is recovered, the fee is collected at a lessened rate of 40 percent for the
purpose of maintenance of the road. On a particular day, National Highway
Authority of India (NHAI) checked the toll tax collection of a particular toll
plaza in Rajasthan. The following table shows the toll tax paid by drivers and
the number of vehicles on that particular day.
