Candidate This form must be completed during the planning and progress of your essay. It is a record of three interactions
with your teacher. The first interaction should focus on discussing the prescribed titles and choosing the title for your essay. In
your second interaction you should discuss initial explorations into your chosen title, and you may present to your teacher an
exploration of those ideas in some written form. This will allow you to create a plan for the structure of your essay. For your
final interaction you are encouraged to present to your teacher a full draft of your essay. The teacher is permitted to
provide oral or written comments on your draft, but will not mark or edit your draft.
Teacher You must have at least three interactions with each candidate; one early on in the process to discuss the prescribed
titles, an interim session to discuss progress and a final session at which the candidate should present a full draft. Other
interactions are permitted, but only these three should be recorded on this form.
Prescribed title:
Is subjectivity overly celebrated in the arts but unfairly condemned in history? Discuss with reference to arts and history.
After creating an outline for the basis of my essay, I started to structure it. I further analyzed 8/11/2023
the prescribed title by coming up with counter and supporting examples for the points I
made. As I am familiar with both arts and history, it was not difficult for me to find said
Second interaction: arguments. Such examples include Guernica by Pablo Picasso, Anne Curry's approach to
the demographical data of the Battle of Agincourt and Japanese war crime denialism. With
these examples I was able to compare and contrast the nature of art and history with
regards to subjectivity and objectivity. Furthermore, these examples also facilitated the
structuring of the essay.
After having written the first draft of my essay, I reviewed my points regarding subjectivity in 7/12/2023
art and refined my examples by adding Convergence by Jackson Pollock as an example for
said topic. With this latest addition to my essay I was able to fully take a side on the matter

conclusion paragraph of my essay. Convergence enabled me to point out the difference in
the many interpretations of the same art piece: Though an art piece may have been
assigned a meaning by its creator, it is not imperative that all those who observe the piece
will infer the said meaning. With this new insight, I was able to completely understand the PT.
