Lesson 11- Introduction to Probability

Lesson 11 introduces the concepts of probability, sample space, and events. It defines an experiment as a process from which results are observed, and illustrates sample spaces for various activities such as rolling a die and tossing coins. The lesson also includes activities for identifying sample spaces for specific experiments.

Introduction to
Probability
Objectives
• Define probability, sample space, and
events; and
• Illustrate simple and compound events
Experiment

- is a process of investigation from which results are

observed or recorded.
Activities illustrating experiment:

Sample Space
- is the set of all possible outcomes for a probability experiment or
activity. It is usually denoted by the letter S.
