Capitalization

Capitalization refers to the act of writing or printing a word in capital letters


and is important because it gives useful signals to the reader. It lets the
reader know a sentence’s beginning; it shows important words in a title and
signals proper names and official titles. The following table is a review of the
capitalization rules and examples:

Capitalize the first word of a sentence

Capitalize the first word in a sentence of a direct quote even if it is in the
