the resources required to make this project.
INDEX

1. Mirrorand its types

2.Converging & Diverging Mirror
3.Derivation of Mirror Formula
➢ Mirror: A mirror is a reflective surface that bounces off
light, producing either a real image or a virtual image

TYPES OF MIRROR
There are mainly two type of
mirror:

1. CONCAVE MIRROR (converging mirror)

2. CONVER MIRROR (diverging mirror)
CONCAVE MIRROR

❖ A concave mirror is a curved

mirror where the reflecting
surface is on the inner side
of the curved shape. It has
a surface that curves
inward, resembling the
shape of the inner surface
of a hollow sphere.
USES OF CONCAVE MIRROR

 Concave mirror are used in shaving

mirror and it produces a magnified
and erect image of the face.
 Concave mirror is used in
astronomical telescope as helps in
converging the light from a far-off
object to a point.
 Concave mirror is used in headlights
of cars to produce a parallel beam of
light covering a longer distance on the
road.
CONVEX MIRROR

Convex Mirror is a
curved mirror where
the reflective surface
bulges out toward the
light source. This
bulging-out surface
reflects light outwards
and is not used to focus
light.
USES OF CONVEX MIRROR

 It is used in sunglasses.
 It is used as a rear-view mirror in
automobiles.
 It's utilised in ATMs and other
places for security reasons.
 It's used as a reflector for street
lights.
WHAT IS MIRROR FORMULA?

 The formula which gives the relationship between the

distance of object 'u', the distance of image 'v', and the focal
length of the mirror 'f'. The mirror formula is applicable for
both, plane mirrors and spherical mirrors (convex and concave
mirrors).
DERIVATION OF MIRROR FORMULS
 The formula which gives the relation between object
distance (u), the image distance (v) and the focal
length (f) of the mirror is known as mirror formula.
 In the figure shown above, an object AB is placed at
a distance u from the pole of the concave mirror of
small aperture, just beyond the center of curvature.
Hence, its real, inverted and diminished image AB is
formed at a distance v in front of the mirror.
 According to Cartesian sign convention,
