TRIGONOMETRY ASSESSMENT

1. a. A ladder of length 1.5m leans against a wall at an angle of 67° to the floor.
How far up the wall does the ladder reach? [2]

b. The ladder slips, as shown in the diagram, so the top of the ladder is 45cm above the ground.
What is the angle between the ladder and the wall? [2]

c. Find the values of x, y and z. [6]

2 a) A man flies a kite with a 100m string. The angle of elevation of the
string is 52 o . How high off the ground is the kite? [2]

b) From the top of a cliff 40 m high, the angle of depression of an object is 34o.

(i) Complete the diagram to demonstrate this data [1]

(ii) How far is the object from the base of the cliff? [2]

c) The diagram shows a cuboid. AB = 3 cm, AE = 4 cm, BC = 12 cm.
