D. Genre of the story:Genre of the story: Comedy-drama, coming-of-age

● SUMMARY
A. Author’s objective/purpose of the story:Stressed students become a part of a cycle
that celebrates success based off rote learning. The embrace of education and
friendships in fights against societal pressures of success is what makes 3 Idiots stand
out. It critiques the self-destructive norm of the society and steps towards making a
positive change in mindset and educational structure through social commentary,
insured through humor.
B. Main Character/s of the story: short description each (you can add photos of the
characters – optional):3 Idiots, as the title suggests, revolves around three engineering
students: Farhan, who has a passion against studying engineering, and Raju, who is
blinded by family expectations. Rancho, a brilliant nonconformist, influences Farhan to
chase his dreams, and helps Raju realize that friendship is more important than grades.
This film portrays the self-discovery and camaraderie in its own authentic way.

C. Plot: (sequence of event):3 Idiots is a story that follows three engineering students—
Rancho, Farhan, and Raju—with flashbacks as Farhan and Raju look for their absent
friend. Ranchos follows and guides his friends to think for themselves and follow their
passions, as they collide with the rigid system of education represented by their director
"Virus". Their journey through college is filled with humorous and heartwarming
moments, along with some romance and personal struggles, ultimately ending with a
shocking revelation about Rancho's true identity in the future.
● REVIEW/CRITIQUE

A. In what way the movie is relevant/important nowadays?Almost all of the issues

presented in 3 Idiots are universal problems and relevant even today — cost of rote
education, importance of mental health, pursuing your passion, true friendship, societal
pressure. Its entertaining story and humor make such profound messages available and
powerful for a broad audience.

B. Who would benefit from watching this movie? Why?3 Idiots caters to a MASSIVE
audience. Students learn what it takes to survive the pressure cooker that is higher
education, while parents understand the need to foster, not crush, their children’s
passions, leaving teachers with a message to do away with rote methods of teaching.
Young adults use this as fuel for self-discovery and career choices but generic societal
pressure discouragement is also made light of as the opposite is encouraged. Lastly, the
film's touching tale of friendship is enjoyable and is sure to inspire all who watch it.

● CONCLUSION

A. How did the movie affect you?3 Idiots made me reflect on my education, question
rote learning, and consider if I'm truly following my passions. The film's portrayal of
friendship reminded me of its importance, while also increasing my awareness of
societal pressures on young people. Its humor made the social commentary impactful,
leaving me inspired to think differently about education, pursue my passions, value
friendships, and be more empathetic.
